The Matrix Reloaded

Look RicharRAB i dont know how many times this has been mentioned but the reason Reloaded had a cliffhanger or "not a proper ending" is because originally Reloaded and Revolutions was gonna b one movie but obviously was too long so they cut it into two. At the end of Revolutions (November 7th) many questions will be answered and it will include a "proper ending".

now, Batman is a child's superhero
maybe, but tim burton aimed for a very dark interpretation of batman - and as fans seemed to agree, it was pretty much spot on.

The end result is what I go to see, and it didn't deliver on almost every level (for me). I'm not doubting what you say is correct, but it didn't look that way. I wasn't the only one to comment on this either.

I really wanted to enjoy it, The Matrix being a favourate film of mine but this has just killed my interest in the concept. I prefered X-men 2, and I was expecting to hate that one

I knew it wouldn't have a 'proper' ending but was disappointed all the same. I guess when you have high hopes for a film then it has a lot to live up to, and doesn't always deliver.

You missed my point - I wasn't complaining about a cliffhanger ending at the end of Reloaded - I realise theres another film to come.

BUT - my point is that the original film finished cleanly, everything was wrapped up and complete. But then Hollywood saw how successful it was and decided they could milk it and release a sequel (or even better - 2!), and as a sequel it is very poor, I didn't think much of the first film and only went to see this cause my girlfriend wanted to see it but even she (who really liked the first one) thought this was very poor.

What was with the sex scene that had no bearing on the film? Or for that matter the rave in the middle of it - strikes me they were very very short of storyline to pad out a 2 hour film - they'd have been better making it a 90 minute film.

If you are going to do a trilogy then Lord of the Rings is the way it should be done but these 2 Matrix films are just cashing in and nothing more.

Also I agree with another poster about the effects - in places they looked very blurred and unreal.

Ok, fair enough to say it didnt deliver, in as much as it wasn't as good as the first, but it is still a damn fine film, and still in a very interesting universe, with a (now) unpredictable plot. I doubt your matrix-fan-ness when you say Xmen2 was better... :D

The original finished cleanly? And you're talking about the Matrix? IMO, the ending of the first film left so many unanswered questions that when they announced the 2 sequels I was really pleased as I figured they might answer at least a couple of my queries.

The end of the Matrix left me feeling - ooh, what happens next???

There were so many theories on the net after the first film that it's good to see which angle the Wachowski's have taken - there will always be "well, what if..."s but I feel that Reloaded has gone some way to answer them...

Maybe thats cause it took me 2 sittings to watch it cause I kept falling asleep - I was going on what my girlfriend had told me as to the clean ending.

I wouldn't say it was anything like The Matrix. It is more like 1984, Fahrenheit 451 or Minority Report. A much 'smaller' movie but all the better for it. Obviously that's my opinion and everyone else might think otherwise :D

Craig - Doubt my fan ness? Cheeky monkey. Xmen 2 is by far a superior sequel. It maintains a well written script, acting and story. Reloaded has a worse story (yes, Revolutions may change that), worse acting, worse script and is nothing more than a good looking show off. X Men 2 continues and even betters the saga, Reloaded makes the saga worse.

Oh, and to anyone under 15 who is thinking of sneaking in to see it, if you come to the cinema I work at, I will take great delight in refusing to sell tickets to you

Now children, if you manage to find out where this cinema is that Murraymint works at, and get to sit in on the film, please ensure that you do not carve up the woodwork, stick chewing gum on the seats, throw ink bombs at the screen or drop stinkbombs in the entrance hall.

i thought it was a good sequel. all the big story lines came in the first film like the whole concept of the matrix. there was nothing that could surpass that. one thing i would say is that there were to many scenes that were not needed and in places the story is to complex where it did not need to be (even though i understand it). anyway its a rare that a sequel surpasses the original or even comes to it. i think alot of people built up the sequel so much that they were dissapointed.

Fair enough - each to their own, and all that!

I must admit I saw the Matrix a LOT when it came out - our cinema was a Virgin one at the time and they were doing their 4 & 8 week all-u-can-watch passes ... so we saw it 5 times!

Then got it on DVD and watched it a lot more...

That sounRAB really sad written down (think I might slip away and hide... :D )

tell me what cinema you work at murraymint and I will see if I can sneek it then tell you the results. anyway i'm fourteen and i have got into loaRAB of 15s and even the jackass movie! im watching the matrix on saturday at my local cinema. i cant wait.

I watched the Animatrix on five last night and enoyed it alot tho it was only about 10 mins long. does anyone know if/when five are showing anymore?

I think The Matrix is one of the best films ever made. It had all the amazing special effects and action scenes, but what was really sets it apart is that they combined it with a pretty good script and sci-fi story that actually justified the special effects and action scenes.

Unfortunately Reloaded has more in common with "Independance Day" in that respect. The Matrix style (TM) action and effects now seem old hat, and the script was just dull - lurching between different action set pieces seemingly at random - like the Agent Smith's appearing straight after Neo sees The Oracle - why? There was no real beginning, and no real ending, just a series of events. I actually spent about the last 20 minutes of the film thinking it was about to end. They also made the same mistake you'll see in Apocalypse Now Redux (how to ruin a great film with a special edition), which is having a long boring bit of dialogue 2 hours into the film when the audience is expecting a big ending. In Apocalypse Now Martin Sheen has dinner with french people, in Reloaded Neo meets the architect for a long boring bit of exposition. Not good.

I did enjoy some of it though: the bike part of the big car chase was superb. But the bits inbetween the action scenes felt like they'd been written by George Lucas. :D

the reason that x men 2 was so good is that the original was so bad. if it was as good as the matrix then people may have been dissapointed with it.

the sex scene between neo and trinity + the zion people dancing was too long dragged out.
the 1st 20 or so minutes were all talk and kinda boring.
