Mars Volta really blows me away. For as long as I've had de-loused I still love to just sit and listen to the whole thing. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right pleaces but I don't hear all that much about them and other than my group of friend I don't really know anyone else who listens to them. I've seen the pop up a handfull of times on here too. They never have any tour dates posted on there site and that is definitely a band that I would travel to see and I bet their live show is incredible, I saw one on tv one time and it was really cool. But they seem like the type of band that if they did tour it would be in Europe. I also heard a while ago about an Omar Rodriguez-Lopez solo album that was supposedly the soundtrack to some kind of movie that he was making???? Just wondering what other people think of this awesome band and looking for like minded discussion. And what other musically mature banRAB do yall like to listen to?
 
i love the mars volta. picking up omar's album whenever i get the chance. if you like them then check out sparta, at the drive in, and de facto. great great band.
 
TMV is very, very good. Their new album Francis the Mute should be coming out early next year. I daresay that a tour would follow. The toured two years ago with the ill-conceived ticket with the RHCP and Snoop Dogg. Last year, they toured with A Perfect Circle. I believe that they should be headlining themselves this time around.

Omar's album is a pretty difficult listen; there's not much song structure and hardly any vocals, but it's always interesting to hear musicians' side projects. I have the album in its entirety, so if anyone is interested, I could either host it, or send it to you via AIM. My screen name is in my profile.
 
the mars volta is great. one of the best banRAB in awhile that is for sure. like the last guy said, no tour right now b/c they are finishing their new album. as soon as that is out they are supposedly doing a supporting tour.
 
fuckin amazing. i was listening to de-loused in a comatorium when i found this thread. god i love this band. check out their three song EP... 'Tremulant EP' if you havent already...

yea im pretty sure its all the same guys from At the Drive-In, so check them out for similar music.
 
Its the two lead guys from ATD, the other members went on to form sparta, who are dog shit compared to Mars volta and ATD, who are both pretty goddam amazing. Haven't listened to them for a while but I may have to break them out again after reading this thread and being reminded of how great they are.
 
I don't really like Sparta at all, it seems like when everyone from ATDI split, Mars Volta progressed with their music and Sparta just kept on making the same shit. Thanks for the news on the tour I'll be looking out
 
YES!!! please host!! i have a couple of songs and am quite interested in the rest of the album.

and yea, the mars volta rule. de-loused is the best album to come out this decade thus far. i saw them live with RHCP and it was a bit too much for me, but ya gotta keep in mind it was before they had even released a CD. they are much better now, i've seen videos and read reviews. i cant wait for frances, there will be a 30 min song not many banRAB have had the balls to do that (pink floyd anyone?)

You're right, Why hasnt anyone told me before!?!

I've been meaning to change it for christmas, thanks for the heaRAB up. I'lll do something else in a few days here.
