"The Making of a Charlie Brown Christmas"

Do you remember the 2001 ABC Special that followed the first airing of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" called "The Making of a Charlie Brown Christmas" hosted by Whoopi Goldberg? TV Guide Magazine and TVGuide.com has slated the "Making of A.C.B.C." for November 26, 2007 but instead after "A Charlie Brown Christmas" we get the 2002 created "Charlie Brown's Christmas Tales".

I don't bother with any of the Charlie Brown specials made after Charles Schultz's death. When Mr. Schultz left this world, he took all the magic of Charlie Brown with him.

I agree. I've seen some of the specials that they did make after Mr. Schultz passed on. While they were enjoyable, they didn't have the same spark that the specials he was a part of had. I seem to remember a bit of that special "A Charile Brown Chirstmas Tales", but I might be mixing it up with that special where Rerun wanted a dog for Christmas.

To me, the problem lies with the fact the specials are just the comic strips in animated form. And I mean that litterally. That's exactly what they are. Related strips and full week stories put together to form a plot and animated. In fact, a good portion of "I want to Have a Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown" was animated prior to that, in an episode of the Charlie Brown and Snoopy show. To me, animating full week storylines works better as a weekly series than a special.
