The Lost Simpsons song...

WAY back in the shows first season, 1990 to be precise, there was a song played on local NY Radio called 'Do the Bart Simpson'.

It seemed to be forgotten about over the decades, and about all I've been able to turn up via radio friends was that it may have been an illegal recording a group of fans put together without the permission of FOX, yet radio stations still played it, so I dunno if that argument holds up much water.

It contained lyrics such as 'They do the Bart Simpson across the ocean...(echo on ocean).
'And 'spike up your hair and do the Bart Simpson....

'4,3.2.1 Come on everyone lets have some fun....You know it's totally crazy man, that's the word. Do the Bart Simpson, don't be a nerd...'

My take?
I think it might be an official FOX production, but the show creators are too embarrassed by it to make it official. Surely I can't be the only one who remembers this song, but I can't find ANYTHING on it via google.
I have an audio file, but I don't want to upload it to the web.
If someone else has a copy, please do so :).

I know there was the song "Do The Bartman", which had a video made, and was later referenced on the show as being "So 1990", but I never heard of anything like that.

Even doing a Google search for "Do The Bart Simpson" takes you to stuff on "Do The Bartman", so I think that if such a song existed, it was made illegally by fans and was buried without a trace by Fox.

Can I post a link to the song I just uploaded? Wasn't sure on the rules, but I'm really curious as to weather or not anyone remembers it.

We had this thread awhile ago already. Long story short: way back in the spring/summer of 1990 (at the height of early Simpsons-mania and the middle of teenaged-me getting sick of constant Simpsons reruns--- "ANNOUNCER: Did Bart cheat on his intelligence test? ME: Yes, yes he did! Quit rerunning this one already!"), someone made a novelty song called "Do the Bart Simpson," sprinkled with bits of dialogue from the show (mostly Homer saying "D'oh!" and Bart saying "Ay caramba!"). I thought it was amusing (if corny), but it seems to have vanished (probably once fans could get *real* licensed Simpsons songs via "The Simpsons Sing the Blues")...

Hopefully it's not one I started and already forgot about :).

Do a search on youtube for 'Lost simpsons Song' since I'm not sure if we can post links or embedd here to relive your, and my, youth :)...

It's crappy pre digital quality(Re-recorded with an antenna and hope), but at least people who still remember it can hear it again :).

Hmm, damn. My memory must be getting bad.

Ahh well...hopefully with it up on youtube, maybe it'll help revive some people's memories more.

I listened to the aforementioned song (on the site-that-must-not-be-named)... and yes, it's the same song I recall from high school, way back when. Cheesy lyrics (I clearly recall the "they're doing it in Springfield U-S-A!" line) and lots of dialogue clips from the first season...

Dude, did you even read the thread? Let alone do a search for the song with the quoted text above? Two totally different songs...not at all alike.

Do the Bartman was the first OFFICIAL Simpsons song released. This came first
