The Lost Boys

Even although the critics had a go at this film I loved it , not seen it for a while might just do that tonight... some of the photography was great too.

The lost boys is an all time classic, great story, exellent soundtrack and a solid cast, the sequel isnt good at all, only corey feldman returns, corey haim is in the last 30secs which is a bit of a rip, alan frog appears in the credits but NOT in the movie, dont know what they were thinking with that 1,the vamps look straight outta buffy,it could have been a good sequel if they did it right but they opted for the cheaper route and the movie suffered big time,we waited 20 years for a solid sequel and instead got a watered down throwback.

Last time I saw her she was in Twister (1996) playing Dr. Melissa Reeves.

Lost Boys is a classic - no intention of spoiling it by watching the sequel.

I do wonder if I watch The Lost Boys again will it be as good as I remember (The Usual Suspect) or will I watch it and it notice how bad it is (The Karate Kid).

I like The Lost Boys but I wouldn't say it's an all time classic. It's a slick, well paced, funny, non serious and obiviously aimed at teens but it's still a fairly cliched vampire movie without any real standout performances or scenes.IMO it is slightly above average, and has become regarded as a classic due a combination of nostalgia and because it is a teen horror that hasn't aged badly. It doesn't hold up when compared to classic movies from that era (e.g Robocop,Aliens,Evil Dead II,and possibly even Near Dark & Fright Night). It does have a great soundtrack though.

I can't believe it didn't get given a proper big budget sequel after taking making so much money. The Lost Girls sounded cool and Joel Schumacher was up for it - Warner Bros really missed a golden opportunity to cash in when the whole Buffy phenomenon was in full swing.

It holRAB up fantastically well compared to Robocop, Evil Dead II, Near Dark and Fright Night. I guess some people may consider Aliens to be a better movie than The Lost Boys. I don't know anybody who thinks that the other four films you mentioned can hold a candle to The Lost Boys. I've got Robocop, The Lost Boys and Fright Night on DVD. Guess which is the only one that I regularly watch - most recently last month? The other two haven't been watched in at least five years.

Everything about it is close to perfect - the story, the actors, the soundtrack, the location, the script, the style, the special effects. I don't think I know anybody who doesn't love The Lost Boys.

Jami Gertz is now in the Chicago based sitcom "Still Standing" - it's on the Lifetime channel in the US.
She is married to Mark Addy (Dave from the Full Monty) in the show, it's really funny.
:)

It's always going to be subjective but I just don't see Lost Boys being that special.Robocop is genius and Fright Night has a couple of outstanding performances.I do like the slickness of the LB and connection with Jim Morrison, and yeah the soundtrack is great. It is a very tight, well paced (thus enjoyable) movie and symbolic of it's era without ageing like many other movies.I just don't see that memorable scene or great originality involved. The script is very by the numbers while Near Dark attempted a new spin on vampire movie mythology and had a great performance by Bill Paxton.
