couldnt find a thread in existance on this - so i am sorry if there is already,

just back from seeing this.

I wasnt expecting much after watching the trailer (expecting the best bits of the movie to be all in that trailer)

However, i very much enjoyed it and if you like your no brainer action comic-book movies,
and it doesnt have THAT much action in it anyway
i recommend it. I loved the relationship between the team...

however...
it leaves itself open ended for sequals, and i hate it when movies are made this way. because if it isnt a success, then there will never be anymore. i just like my movies to finish and conclude. Was hoping for Max's big death sequence

i heard a guy near me say "that was shit". i guess its down to personal tastes!

A cross between Shoot em Up and what i think The A team movie should be...but not as camp.
 
I didn't like it, thought it was very average and too cliched. But as you say different strokes for different folks and all that!
 
Saw this at the weekend, thought it was absolutely fantastic.

I admit that it severely lacks in originality, however it really makes up for this in entertainment value. Its one of the "leave your brain at home" films, you just need to sit back, have a laugh and enjoy it.

I'd definitely rate this much higher than the majority of the films i've seen this year (Alice in Wonderland, Iron Man 2), which is surprising considering the B list cast, low budget and lack of any sort of intelligent plot.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan really is quite a highly underrated actor i think too... and Jason Patric was a hoot!

However i do disagree with:


Admittedly i do hate the majority of open ended films. However, i enjoyed this so much that i really want them to make a sequel regardless of how well it does. (And lets face it, they have made sequels for some frankly awful films)

Can't wait for the dvd!
 
I saw The Losers over the weekend and I loved. I was really looking forward to it and it lived up to my expectations. I saw The Losers, Robin Hood and Prince Of Persia but the The Loser was the one I enjoyed the most!
 
Saw this tonight, loved it. Totally unoriginal but fun anyway and with characters you care about (though as a girl i wish Zoe Zaldana's character was a bit more fun as the only female in it, though I understand why not). I thought Chris Evans was great in it.

I was really pleased...

Max survived as I loved Jason Patrick's bad guy act....who knew he could be so good at being a baddie?

Hopefully we'll get another.
 
What bothered me was the huge disparity between two halves of the film:

1. The "gritty" (but cheesy) parts with the losers.
2. The ridiculous, over-the-top even for a comic, villainy. The villain and the super weapon were almost too stupid even for a spoof, and it didn't fit with how relatively grounded the rest of the film was.
 
i really hope there is a sequal too as i very much enjoyed it,
cant wait for the dvd either!

Jason Patric was hilarious, and Jeff Dead Morgan was great as well. I loved them all! even Chris Evens!

and yeah - perhaps one of my faves this year as well (admittingly i did like Alice thou!), but certainly this and The Disappearence of Alice Creed are so far my top 2. its been a disappointing year for Hollywood film sadly
 
I tend to agree Micheal from Lost Boys was a tad OTT, but I still liked him!

and yes, the weapon reminded me of something you see in a Leslie Nielson spoof parady pic. and it wasnt quite clear what his evil plan to destroy bits of the planet was about

but still quite liked it all!
 
I agree I couldn't make sense of what the villain was going to gain from his actions and therefore why he was doing it, normally that would really bother me, but for some reason in this it just didn't.
 
Same here. A lot of films can get bogged down in the villains plans, becoming overly complicated etc. I found it quite refreshing that they didn't bother to explain what he was doing and why, and i realised that i didn't care one bit either.

Possibly the best line of the film:

"God, you are short. Seriously, how much do you weigh? Are you standing in a hole?"

I don't know whether it was the way it was delivered, but i couldn't stop laughing!
 
I saw this on Thursday and thought it was a cracker of a film. In many ways it reminded me of The A Team which is ironic when you think that film is coming soon.
I think the A Team is going to get mixed to bad reviews as they are playing it as if real rather than make it like the series. So I wouldn't be surprised if this is seen as the better film of the two.
With The Expendables making up the three some of "group of guys action films" coming in August it could be very interesting which is the better film.

The Losers with no real "star" names
The A Team - "The hype"
The Expendables - "star names galore"

So far my money is on this because the other two will come with so many expectations attached to them there is more chance of disappointment.

A very good film and I too would like to see a sequel.

Seriously, more power to you my friend. Given the fact that that this movie did quite poorly in the US, mainly because of shoddy advertising, anything that keeps it in the public eye over here can only help improve final sales, and the possibility of a sequel.

i have a dreadful feeling that The Losers is everything that the A-team movie should be, and will fail to be.
