okies, im quite perseverant with books. i know a lot of people who havent read LOTR because they found the first few chapters boring - i found that too (especially all those poems and songs!) but after about 5 -6 chapters it really gets into it! dont know how anyone could give up on LOTR its too good.

That's very true - I left it a year after chapter one before going back to it...after I did I was addicted!!!!
