The lllusionist

I only saw this halfway through as my boyfriend hated it and refused to watch the rest! I didn't think it was that bad, it looked like an interesting premise, although Edward Norton was uncannily like Derren Brown in it :D I think it suffered from coming out at the same time as The Prestige.
 
Like The Prestige, it cheats the audience with tricks which are actually impossible.
The Illusionist uses CGI to create tricks which can't be done for real even today, let alone in the 19th. century. Very annoying, because both movies showed great promise.
 
Yeah, you could see the twist. Also, the problem with these european based films is that eventually the actors loose their accent, even if it only briefly, but you can tell.
