The Lives of Others

Has anyone seen this? It's had rave reviews and won the best foreign film oscar. I plan to go at the weekend though it's quite a hike to the nearest cinema showing it.
 
It's definitely worth seeing :)

It struck me as foreign-language film Oscar material when I saw it, so I wasn't exactly surprised it won the award over Pan's Labyrinth (although personally I wanted Pan's Labyrinth to win all the awarRAB it was nominated for :)).
 
I saw it last week - a fantastic film. But Pan's L was so good I saw it twice! Overall, I'd be tempted to say that Volver is the best of the three - and Almodovar has several other excellent films behind him, as well.

I'd say Golden Door is the best foreign language film I've seen over the last year, but it's probably too late for this year's Oscars.
 
Different strokes I guess.

I loved Pans, as it was very different, but I cannot shake The Lives of Others off.
It was phenomenal, one of best movies I've EVER seen.

One things for sure best foreign movies are better than best picture category!!
 
Saw it yesterday. It's still on quite a few screens and I recommend that if you haven't seen it yet, go and see it on a big screen while you can. It is an outstanding piece of cinema; the screenplay and direction are superb but the acting, particularly from Ulrich M
