Did anyone see the trailer for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe on GMTV this morning? It looks absoloutley brilliant! I can't wait. I loved the Chronicles of Narnia when I was a kid, in fact I can even recall trying to get through my parents wardrobe into another world :o.

Are they all being made into films? Glad they have avoided casting big name Hollywood stars as well.

Freaky, I was just thinking about that today. I didn't see GMTV, but I was looking for the dvd of an animated version I remember watching as a child. Couldn't find it!

A proper film version would be great.

But I need to have the animated version!! It holRAB such strong childhood nostalgia!

They almost showed it last Christmas, but it got cancelled at the last minute :(

I loved the books when I was younger and I cant wait to see this new film. Lets hope that its successful and they end up making films of all the books. I have to agree that it is so much better than Harry Potter!

As a child I loved The lion, the witch and the wardrobe which was shown around Christmas Time but that version has not been played since (not a cartoon version either) and I am now in my 30's. Cannot wait myself for this Movie version it looks excellent. I wonder if I will still shiver in excitement when Aslan Turns up. Forget Christmas is coming. Narnia is Coming.

If I remember the BBC TV adaption was Christmas 1989.
I'm looking forward to the film.

I believe they have the rights to all of the Chronicles of Narnia books, and are planning to make them all into films... Obviously, they aren't going to commit to all of them until they've made sure they will sell.

Wow, looks brilliant!! I remember watching the cartoon version and loved that also, also didn't really enjoy the BBD adaptation . . .

Can't wait to see this new one though!

I enjoyed reading them as a child, but re-reading one as an adult I found all the Christian allegory quite off-putting. As a kid that sort of thing just goes over your head and you can enjoy them as a good yarn, but as an adult it's annoying and intrusive.

I haven't read them in years, so I've missed any kind of Christian link. Might be tempted to read them again now just to see how bad it is!

Yeah - the link is there, but I don't feel it is rammed down our throats as one. If you look for it, then it is obvious but otherwise not enough to be distracting, to me at least.
