the only film i ever cried at was Bambi. Not the cartoon. Ive never watched it since, that was such a sad film.

Come to think of it, was it bambi, i cant remember, well there was this film, that i havent watched for years because when i saw it when i was about 8 i cried, and i found it so sad i never watched it again, no wait was i 9, no i was 8.

Is Bambi a sad film?
 
I can't remember if this was a film for TV or a one off drama but it starred Amanda Burton as a wife and mother who despite the best efforts of medics is dying of cancer.

She decides to end it all one night herself by taking pills and alcohol. The build up makes for some of the most harrowing viewing I have ever witnessed.

Does anyone remember this? If so, what was the title?
 
A film with Billy Bob Thornton called Sling Blade. I saw it last week for the second time and cried loaRAB of time all throughout.

"Simon Birch" had me welling up....a truelly great film.
I was sitting there with the other half trying not to show any emotion, but couldnt help it.
 
I'm big on crying at movies! Infact, the last time I cried at a movie was last night, I saw the Last Samurai, Tom Cruise and found the end battle and scenes very emotional.

I also cry at:

Most Disney movies
LOTR, Return of the King - that last 20 mins of the movie after the ring has been destroyed has me in buckets.
Braveheart - when Wallace is executed
Radio - Cuba Gooding Jnr - very emotional and excellent film
Titanic
Armegeddon - when Willis stays behind to save the world .. very noble

Ooh, I could go on - I do love a good film to cry at!
 
there are 2 films in life which really upset me and i cried. they were the snowman (when the kid discovers his friend has melted) and the other film was the land before time. when little-foots mum dies and guides him from the other side i still get shivers.
 
Oh, it's got to be ET. The greatest tearjerker of all time.

And for some reason I found Finding Nemo quite moving. Man, I'm such a wuss.

Moulin Rouge - v sad.

I always think it's a sign of quality if a movie makes me cry.
 
There are quite a few films that make me cry. If I am ill I cry at everything and anything (including movies like The Karate Kid!).

In no particular order a list of movies that make me cry:

Mandy (an old British black and white movie about a girl that is born deaf)
Mulan (when she manages to climb up the tall pole in the middle of the training camp, determined to succeed)
City of Angels (went to see this with my brother and halfway through he rather loudly disowned me and went to sit somewhere else)
Lilo and Stitch (the bit where he goes off with the book "The Ugly Duckling" and it's pouring with rain)
Most recently it was Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason - near to the end...it's funny, but some of it is bittersweet.

As for TV shows, most recently I cried while watching last week's episode of Joan of Arcadia No Future
 
I watched the Extended Edition of ROTK today and felt tearful several times, the crybaby I seem to be, (although perhaps I felt less weepy and didn't have to watch the last half an hour or so in a teary haze as I did when I first saw the film). Grey Havens :cry: :cry: , Theoden's death :cry: , Aragorn's coronation :cry: , Elrond when Arwen comes back to Rivendell after her vision :cry:
 
Has anyone seen "The Champ" with Jon Voight? It is very sad at the end although the whole movie is a calculated attempt to make people cry - it works!

The Color Purple makes me cry too.

Oh, and if you're into something a bit classy, try All About My Mother by Pedro Almodovar. The grief in that one is so raw you can almost taste it.
 
I had a tear in my eye today as I watched The Polar Express with my five year old.

Forget the discussions on imagery and technology - he didn't care.

Any fathers disagree !!
