The Last Samurai

Definately one to watch.

While watching it I found myself thinking of "Dances with wolves" but with sworRAB and ninjas.

Anyone else seen it yet?
 
Does seem to be a Japanese version of DWW, where soldier goes to fight native peoples, and enRAB up joining their cause. I would like to see it though.
 
I saw the last Samuri in the states last week, and I'm afraid to say that I wasn't that impressed with it. Tom Cruise hardly has the acting talent required for that part unfortunately.

At one point I was even nodding off...
 
i thought that too from the trailer. was *dances with wolves* based on *the last samurai* or did i imagine it?

Watched a special preview some weeks ago and thought it was ok, but what a waste of a high budget.

Basically if you have seen Braveheart and Gladiator, you seen them all! Its basically a typical, and i mean TYPICAL hollywood American epic. Nothing special what so ever.

However if you are looking for a Saturday night trash epic movie, then this is the one for you. Pretty forgettable stuff but fun at the same time.

It has some wonderful fight scenes though, but compared to LOTR:ROTK (which i watched yesterday 17/12/03:p ), its really nothing. This film is deffinatelly not Oscar worthy. And if it does win an Oscar it would be a crime!
