Ladder 49 :) I really liked that movie as well. Joaquin Pheonix is just great in everything :lol: And I agree, she really is underrated.
 
Jacinda Barrett is a great actress. She is totally underrated. She was wonderful with Joaquin Phoenix in the movie I can't remember with the fire. I remember crying my eyes out when his character dies and from JB's reaction

totally agree about RB. I found her so annoying in LK. I don't know if it was the acting or the character, but she sounded like a fifteen year old, even though she was playing someone in college. I like that JB did not play a stereotypically bitchy girlfriend to make the cheating with RB and ZB's characters look better
 
i loved this movie!! i thought Zach Braff was really good in this one!! and also im a fan of rachel bilson!!
 
I really enjoyed this movie. It wasn't really what I expected, but it was emotional and entertaining, and even while most of the characters made me angry for most of the movie, I thought it was good.

Jacinda Barrett was wonderful and I thought Casey Affleck was great aswell. I never really liked Rachel Bilson, and there's no exception in this movie, but I wasn't surprised by that. She just doesn't do anything for me. :shrug:

Actually, I'm really interested in seeing the original now.
 
I just saw this last night. I enjoyed it but really, I disliked Rachel Bilson in this. I felt like I was watching Summer and her acting just wasn't up to par with the others. The scene where she shows up at his work and her line delivery about how of course its about her made me cringe.

Jacinda Barrett was fantastic I thought. I'd never even heard of her before but she really made her feel for her.

I agree with those who think that Zach Braff may be getting himself stereotyped. He should branch out some more because I honestly really enjoy him as an actor.

Overall it was a good movie but not great.
 
I really liked this. I saw it before Garden State. So after seeing this I saw that. Have to say, GS didn't really do anything for me. I just could not get into it!
 
i actually liked this movie *very much* .

the characters were so flawed and confused that it was hardly impossible not to relate with anyone. the doubts and fears michael has about commitment are so familiar and real. and so is kim's crush on an older guy, chris desperate wish for freedom and izzy's obsession to win her ex back.

that aside, the soundtrack is amazing.
 
The movie was decent. A one timeer for me, I'll probably never watch it again. I really thought, like you all have said, that it's Garden State II. My major problem with the movie is the dropped storylines. The friends, from the promo of the movie, seemed to hold a major part. But they really didn't. The movie had a couple random fill-in scenes with them in it.

I did like Zach/Rachel better just because I adore Rachel Bilson, but her character was a bit clingy, but I do believe since she's a college student, that's pretty normal. He's older in his mid 30's and she's probably early 20's. So I think that part was realistic, had they made her more mature the movie could've been better.

I did feel that some of the emotion was over the top and some of the storylines were dropped but I didn't think it was terrible.
 
I'm very interested in seeing this one. I know this will not be anything like Garden State, but I think Zach Braff did a great job there and I have high hopes for this one.
 
Really? I didn't know that - I thought it was Zach's doing. Hmm.

Yeah he does seem to have pigeonholed himself. Shame, really, unless he comes out and does something completely different. What are the odds, do you think?
 
This movie is just bad.

And by the way... Zach didn't write, or direct this one. This is by Paul Haggis (Crash) -- Which is also hard to believe considering "Crash" is eons above this dreck.

The movie is pretentious and is basically (as Goodnightboy said) Garden State Part II... Excpet without any of the wonder or genuine heart GS has. Also, you know the third one in the trilogy is coming because this is what Zach Braff has pigeonholed himself into: The 30something Mid-Life crisis guy :rolleyes:
 
First off, I was surprised about the amount of nudity. :goof:

The film was good in the sense that it really dealt with life issues in a very-in-your-face way. You can't help but see yourself in almost every situtation.

Rachel's character was kinda hard to believe. I mean the whole love at first sight kinda of thing and amazing personality and so forth. I just don't buy it but I guess that's we all are waiting for...that first look.

Anyways, Rachels' character seemed kinda immature by the way she acts but I think that's understandable since she is a college student.

[sp]That first moment I saw her character at the wedding reception and the scene at the treehouse...totally made me fall for her :sigh: [/sp]

The ending left me puzzled...I didn't really expect that.
 
Yes. A lot of the side stories seemed a bit superfluous, in that Zach put it in to show different sides to the '30 something's dilemma' premise, but they had weak endings, or did not get enough attention. He could have done a lot more with the side stories. Also, the nudity? Again, superfluous. Doesn't add to the story at all.

I don't have a problem with the women, not really... what I don't really like is how Zach Braff always plays the same character. His character in The Last Kiss is almost a carbon copy of Garden State - Zach Braff can do a lot better, if he only plays one character it's going to limit his career in the movies. In fact, The Last Kiss is almost a remake of Garden State, both are so similar - and Garden State was far superior.

Also, the issues in The Last Kiss are real-world concerns, so we can understand, and that's good. However, his character is narcissicistic and hard to like - it's hard to feel empathy for him the way you could feel for Andrew in Garden State. :shrug: the fact that Garden State and The Last Kiss are so similar means that it's difficult not to compare them, and it's to the detriment of The Last Kiss. Even the soundtracks are similar, and GS's soundtrack was better. The next time Zach does a movie, I hope he tackles something completely different. I'm not sure if I could watch this recycled for the third time.
 
Saw the movie a couple of days ago. It was pretty good. I thought Jacinda was great. I love Zach & thought he did great as well. I really liked the movie, it was very emotional. I figured there would be a little more comedy, but i love dramas. The only thing i didn't like was how clingy Rachels character got. Had they made her a little more mature, i think it would have been better. Despite that, I'd see it again.
 
Umm I've seen this movie a couple times. In fact, now I own it, but only because I got it for free from my job.

From the beginning I didn't think that I was going to like Garden State and I fell in love with it. The Last Kiss on the other hand was totally different. The first time I saw this movie was in the movie theater and I thought that it was major disappointment after my love for his previous film.

I saw it a second time this past weekend and my mother and little sister liked it more than I did. I just can't seem to take a great liking to it. For some reason, it doesn't tickle my fancy. Maybe I just need to watch it again.

For some reason I feel as though there should be more to the story.

I think it was just the lack of chemisty between Rachel and Zach that really ruined her character.
