There's a horror film coming out on 3rd September called The Last Exorcism which you might have seen the trailer for at the cinema. To promote the movie the filmmakers have released a brilliant piece of marketing which comes in the form of a viral set in the world of Chatroulette. Who neeRAB tits and ass when you can have this! So much better! :D

Love this!

It is part of Frightfest this year yes. Shown on the 30th during the festival. If anyone is going to it, Monsters is the film to see at the festival, suppose to be fantastic. And if you really want to see a very controversial film, A Serbian Film is there for you to sit and enjoy...

This film is out Friday and after seeing the trailer it wasn't a film i was slightly interested in. To be honest it just looked rubbish. But i've been reading a fair few articles which have really praised the film and it's been getting pretty much positive reviews and people saying it's recommended which has now caught my eye.

But what's really piqued my interest is the the fact that the trailer doesn't show what the film is really about and it's not the film you think it is. So i think there's a lot they haven't shown and there's probably a twist to the film. I think for that reason alone i'll go see this. I've no idea where they're going with this because i thought it was a generic run of the mill type horror but that seems to be not the case.

If anyone has already seen this, please no spoilers. I don't want some idiot ruining it. It would be great if this is a late surprise in the Summer season of mostly turgid films.

I started a thread about the film earlier without realising there was already one in progress. Anyway, here's what I said:

I saw this film a couple of weeks ago at an advance screening. It's an interesting concept and it actually worked really well for the most part. The characters actually had some background and were developed well, particularly the main guy.

Unfortunately, it was completely ruined for me by the ending. I won't give it away, but it just seemed crudely tacked on and out of kilter with the the rest of the film. It was as if there was originally a different ending and it was changed during a re-write, or after test screenings.

I saw this today and i absolutely loved it! Fantastic film! Nice to watch a film which completely surprises you and you have no idea where it's going or how it's going to end. Great way to end the summer season for me.

The performances from the Preacher bloke Cotton and Nell the 'possessed' girl were suberb. Really well acted and they both completely draw you in.

It's not a horror film per say despite the marketing, it won't make you jump or scream, but it does have horror elements to it. To be cheeky/ridiculous it's kinda like Inception (LOL!) with a conclusion that throws everything previous in doubt and leaRAB to multiple different theories about what really happened. I personally thought the ending was fantastic, a complete 180 and WTF moment!:D

I don't want to go into spoiler territory as i urge you to watch this film knowing as little as possible but i will say this. What I appreciated the most about the film is the fact that it's unlike most 'modern' horror flicks, specifically in the sense that it is very, very, slow burn. You have to learn to appreciate this. Weird stuff doesn't start happening until 30 minutes or so into the film, maybe more. Suspense is really solidly built on minute after minute and you genuinely feel tense. I know i did!

I'm glad the filmmakers took their time with the characters and the scares. People will compare it to Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity for obvious reasons but i was very impressed and please don't let 'Eli Roth' tag put you off from seeing this. I thought it was brilliant.

I saw it today and I agree with everything you said. :D

I thought it started a bit slow though and worried that I'd wasted my money on a crap film.:D

I thought the first half was excellent, it really had me interested and - although not much happens in terms of crash, bang, wallop - it was essential to building the main character. It was actually a great piece of film making.

I also disagree that it's a poor film. With the right ending it could have been a real cracker.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. The handheld shakey camera, the "build up" where nothing happens, being advertised as "the scariest film of the year" and then failing to make you jump even once... They tried this and failed with Blair Witch Project and again with Paranormal Activity.

Just seen this and it's pretty lame really. From the trailers it makes itself out to be a scary horror film when really its nothing of the sort, I can't recommend it I'm afraid

As I mentioned earlier, I saw this weeks before release at an advance screening. I really liked it apart from the ending. This was before any trailers started. Having seen the way it's being advertised, I can understand why people are feeling disappointed.

I agree. The trailer on the tv completely misrepresents the movie. I thought the film was a cracker. Now i wonder what Paranormal Activity 2 will be like!
