The Lake House (Remake of Siworae/Il Mare)

IF it follows "Il Mare" closely, you won't be disappointed as what is in the trailer is only half the story. Literally ;)

I recommend renting the original Korean film... Yes, it has subtitles... Not just because "The Lake House" is coming out, but also so you can see the exquisite cinametrography on display in "Il Mare" as the city itself where the story takes place (Il Mare takes place in an apartment complex instead of a lakeside house) becomes a secondary character in its own right.

Oh yay!!! I am so glad you enjoyed it. It really was spectacular, and you seem like you got all the little things that made it so fabulous apart from Keanu and Sandra's awesome chemistry and *ahem* snogging...lol. Reviewers are so out of touch.

Welcome to the enlightened, my friend!! Welcome. :P

I can understand this as most films aren't worth the price of admission these days and I too like to know beforehand if it is even worth my time and money...

But this reaction is kind of why I have a feeling this movie may not do well because this movie is not your typical mindless, fluff romance/romantic drama and requires audiences to think when they see it and not be spoon-fed everything like most mainstream romantic films which end up very predictable as a result.

Thanks!

I watched the movie last Sunday and I completely loved it! It is so beautiful and Sandra and Keanu are perfect together. :sigh:

They got together at the end, because Alex waited four years to meet Kate. They finally met each other in 2008.

No I'm not confused.

[sp]Okay so let's get the facts straight:

Alex time: 2004/ Kate time: 2006

They first meet at the mail box.

They agree to meet at a restaurant in Kates time (2006). Alex never shows b/c it was in 2006 that Alex had died (he was the one who died in her arms)

However not knowing it was Alex that died, Kate tells 2004 Alex to stop writing her.

They stop writting to each other and two years pass.

Alex time: 2006/ Kate time: 2008

Kate and her boyfriend meet with an archetech company.

Kate sees a drawing by Alex. She asks his brother if she can get in touch with him. He tells her he died two years ago (in 2006)

Kate rushes to the mailbox at the Lake House and writes Alex the note.

Alex gets the note in 2006. So he's there on the sidewalk and sees Kate across the street. However since he has the note from future Kate (2006) he does not cross the street; therefore it's as if his death never happened.

In the note Kate tells 2006 Alex to wait a couple years and that she will be there at the Lake House in 2008 waiting for him. So Alex does wait.

Alex time: 2008/ Kate time: 2008
They finally meet and fall in love.[/sp]

God, I loved it! D/ling the soundtrack right now :D

Will be back in a minute with a little review :)

Ok, so since this has spoilers, I'm using the spoilers tag. But just one thing:
If you’re a romantic at heart, don’t miss this movie :)

The lake house – review

Ok, so I went with my sister to watch the movie. I had seen the promotional pics and the trailers, but I still was spoiler free: didn’t know exactly how things happened and such, although I knew the ending was a good one since ppl kept telling me how much I was gonna love this movie and they know I’m a ‘happy ending’ kind of person, LOL.

Alex is the sweetest guy. Kate is a very esceptic woman. So IMO Alex has very clear almost since the beginning that she is special, as he proves by going to pick up her father’s present, and putting the tree by the apartments’ side… But Kate thinks is more some kind of illusion. I like that. I like copules where one of them is exceptic but the power of love chages that :sigh:

The timing thing was odd, but not because it didn’t make sense. I mean, it was just that what it was in two years ahead for him, it was one day for her (when they make the appointment for the date at the restaurant). But theorically, it was possible: he knew where she was gonna be in two years, he just had to wait and be there as well. What was weird was they two talking to each other at the park and at their own houses :look: But who cares. I loved their ‘first fight’ ‘You can make a song about it and go to California to sign it’ or sth like that  He was a little jealous, wasn’t him? ;)

I love how they made him be present in her life through time. Back to the same: for him it was posible to meet her ‘in her past’, so when the chance presented, he did. I loved it when he ran after the train. And I loved it even more at her birthday party. Oh god, that dance was to die for :thud: And the best part is that it was Kate who asked for it :D You could see how hard it was being for Alex to have right in front of him the woman of his life, and not being able to tell her *sniff* That is why that dance was so incredible.

I also loved their tour for the city  When she saw that wall and the message he had written for her. So sweet! :)

When he didn’t go to the date I think that she made the wrong thing. I would have asked him why he didn’t go and also try to find out if anything happened to him. When he didn’t go, I was thinking that I couldn’t imagine him not attending unless he was terrible sick… or dead  That’s why I was kinda expecting that yes, the guy that dies at the beginning of the movie was him. Thank god, she could save him :sigh:

I love how their roads just crossed again. It was destiny. It was bound to happen. Fate.

:sigh:

I saw it earlier, it was a good film. I love how the movie lets you think. It also allows the audience walk along the two character's journey. :)
Though, I think sometimes the pace gets a bit slow.

aww too cute. I just adore the 2 of them together. You can see where the chemistry comes from. Its like you don't even need an interviewer, just put the camera on them and let them go at it (err you know what I mean).

On the movie note, saw it again this weekend! Loved it again too. I can't wait till it comes out on DVD! I hope there are lots of features, and a Sandy/Keanu commentary, that would be awesome. I didn't notice this the first time around, but caught it the 2nd time:

[sp]Did anyone notice that he gives her a valentine's day card at the end as they're walking towards the lake house? he hands her something she grabs it and as she puts her right hand down you see that it's a red envelope. so cute[/sp]

It was an interview on MSN and ended abruptly. :(

I'll upload all the interviews I have to YouTube.com and post the links here. :)
