The Karate Kid Trailer (remake with Will Smiths son and Jackie Chan)

It does not change the original, that will always be there and will always be a great movie. One of my favorites too.

At the end of today, this is being made for todays generation, not me or you.

If you don't like the idea of it, don't watch it.

I actually thought the trailer did not look too bad, I like the idea of Jackie Chan as Mr Miyagi, and the transposing of the story to China.

This issue is not whether it will be better than the original, that's very unlikely. But in it's own way it may be reasonably enjoyable.

Poor trailer really. Nice reference at the end to the original though, and at least they aren't calling Chan's character Mr Miagi

I don't care if they are making a karate movie, just hate that the Karate Kid name is attached to it, or anything from the old one.

That was the first thing I thought! I was like "eh, that's not karate?"

It makes the production team look REALLY foolish. Why not just call it "The Kung-Fu Kid" and be done with it?

Looks like its for 8 year olRAB.

And its in Beijing? The cool thing about the original was Mr Miyagi was this character from Asia (Okinawa) who was doing this cool shit in the States and it was better than the Cobra Kai's learnings.

Long time since I've seen it, but I seem to remember being pleasantly surprised the female Karate Kid film. Early appearance of the rather wonderful Hillary Swank, I believe.

If they are making a remake, I really hope they take their time with it and make it gripping viewing. Remakes are generally not as explosive/engrossing as the original. Lets hope this is different.
