Briliant film, but why have they changed the music in the scene where he discovers he can keep time with the music on the radio ?
I have the original release on VHS and the music is completely different.
I am thinking copyright reasons.

It will definitely be some kind of copyright issue - either they only signed up rights for 30 years (unusual but not impossible), or only signed rights for VHS and didn't have the standard clause regarding future formats, or maybe were just looking to cut costs for a re-release and didn't think anyone would notice.

The worst example of this I'm aware of is the most recent DVD issue of "National Lampoon's Animal House" - the original movie is full of great rock 'n' roll hits on the soundtrack, this new DVD has replaced them all either with poor cover versions, or generic rock 'n' roll library music, and it totally kills it...

"The Jerk" is a brilliant movie - "I was born a poor black child..."
