The island- cant wait to see it

Well I loved it and going to get the DVD when it comes out. What do people expect?it had action,a story, great effect and cool actors.come on people don't be too hard!

this is an odd one all round - thought it looked pretty good from the trialer, and went to see it last night, despite the bad reviews. and, well, really enjoyed it.

it did play a lot like spot the films they've filched from, but was pretty entertaining. plot was fairly linear, but it kept moving forward at a decent pace, without any part really dragging.

it made me think of logan's run a lot too - perhaps ewan's line about "why do we always have to wear white?" was a knowing reference? also similar themes to brazil - the loner wanting to break the system, and also the parts about wanting to stay forever young.

and then little things like bean's desk, blatantly ripped from minority report, or the fact that the little speeder bikes in the chase used the exact same sound effect as the pod racers in the phantom menace.

but despite all that, and a couple of glaring holes in the plot, it was still hugely enjoyable - and i think ewan and scarlet were both (mostly) pretty good in it.

saw this last night. I didnt realise it was 2.5 hours long. It didnt feel it

As many other people have also said, I found it quite average. Entertaining enough but not engrossing and I wouldnt bother seeing it again

Even Ewan McGregor didnt look that sexy! :D

;5405908']I just came from seeing this movie, I recommend this to everyone highly. Very action packed and futuristic looking while keeping the theme of the present day.

Ewan McGregor is awesome out of it. Go and see it now! ^_^

I have just watched this film and thought it was absolutely dire. It started off favourably but after about the first third it rapidly went downhill for me.

The most depressing thing about this film is that it has a high concept sci-fi premise, and a plot that doesn't just go from A to B and two very good actors in the lead roles - and industry experts are saying that that's why it flopped!!
Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson aren't big enough, apparently, and people are saying that it shouldn't have been called 'The Island' because it doesn't take place on an island!! Do they think audiences just sit there and say:" durrr...durr...where's the island??....durrr....I don't understand...durrr"

The only truly bad bits in this film, imo, were the chase scenes where the swat team destroy half a city trying to recapture Ewan and Scarlett. Not only where they OTT, they were cut in such a way that you can't actually follow the action.

I saw the film at the weekend. Beforehand, I'd read lots of reviews, some saying it was brilliant, others saying it was crap. TBH im in 2 minRAB about it. i thought it was too long a film and the beginning dragged on a bit too much for my liking. the story was ok, but its not a film id go out and buy when its released on dvd. sean bean was alright in it though. again he was the bad guy. when does he play anything else?

I saw this movie the other day and I have to disagree with the majority of reviews, I thought it was really good. It definitely didn't feel like it was 2 hours long, I was hooked all the way. Some people I've spoken to have said the start was boring but I didn't think it was, maybe because I hadn't seen the trailer or read the plot beforehand. I'd probably put it in my top 10.

If you haven't seen it yet then you definitely should, you'll be really glad you did.

I thought this film was pretty good at the beginning, but once the chasing began it went rapidly down the pan (and it lasted FOR EVER). I wouldn't have minded if it had just been a bit of chasing but all that banging and crashing bored the hell out of me...

And what was with
them managing to survive falling off a skyscraper?

Ridiculous...

Exactly they got off with just a few scratches....and even if something broke their fall, they would die after falling off a skyscraper... Wasn't the thing that 'softened' their fall a huge 'A' made of metal and glass that they managed to hold on to despite plumetting towarRAB the earth at high speed????

Or did i miss the conveniently placed cushion? :P :D

you did - right down at the bottom they landed in some big netting type thing. i guess at the end of the day its just a film so you kind of have to suspend belief a bit!

Iain

Fair dues Iain yeah i remember that now, thanks.

I'm always prepared to suspend disbelief with films but never THAT much. Still reckon they'd at least have been seriously injured or broken something ;)

However if i really really liked everything else in the film then i would never have been so picky.
