The Informant!

Went to see The Informant! today - what an utterly dreadful film.

The first 30 minutes of the film were all over the place, and once the plot finally kicked in, it didn't seem to know whether it wanted to be a comedy or a drama.

Definately not what I was expecting and a massive disappointment.

Totally agree. I've never been so bored 10 minutes into a film before.

I can't believe I stayed the whole way through, it was terrible - it tried so hard to be funny and witty but it just failed...badly.

His character was also extremely dislikable with all his lying!

3/10

Exactly. I was thinking 15 minutes in "Why am I bored?". Six people actually left within the first half hour.

I also felt quite uncomfortable towarRAB the end of the film when his "problem" was revealed, after they had made him out to be a bumbling fool.

I'm surprised by these comments.

I actually thought it was a really enjoyable film. It did take while to get used to, but when it hit its stride i thought it worked really well.

And i agree with this reviewer here that Matt Damon puts on a great performance.

Soderbergh does have that Marmite thing going on. From film to film too, as a lot of his work is so different.

I saw this film on Saturday and have to agree with the OP's comments.

I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a comedy or not - the lighthearted music made it seem as if it should be, but it just wasn't funny.

Also, I couldn't see why it was classified as a '15' apart from the fact there was the odd swear word.

Oh bottoms! Just bought tix for this film for tomorrow's screening.

Will secure an aisle seat in case an early exit is required.

Oh dear! I have read the comments in this thread, and now I'm in a dilemma about what to do. I ought to go and watch it, because I'm a big fan of Matt Damon because he's a gorgeous hunk. But if it's a rubbish film, I might not want to.

He's not a gorgeous hunk in THIS particular movie lol.

And woah I am surprised at people disliking it, it got relatively moderate reviews but all the reviews I've read praise Matt Damon's acting. I'm still going to go and watch it.

Saw this yesterday and agree with post no. 1, 2 and 5. It just really wasn't that very good.

You can't go see a film for Matt Damon alone no matter how good he is in it if everything else around him is so bad! I'm just glad i didn't pay to see it :D

Digging up an old thread - kinda stunned at some of the reactions on here. Rented this from work last night...

I loved the film quite honestly. I went into the film expecting it to be a straight case of taking down the bad guys but as the lies unravelled I got more and more interested. And even as you knew there wasn't really any hope for Mark I still sort of really liked the guy.

Great movie.
