The Imaginiarium of doctor Parnassus..*

Saw it on Friday, and its usually stuff like this thats right down my alley, but I just couldn't follow it. Maybe making out with someone for 90% of it didnt help! haha!

I saw this yesterday. I admit I'm a long-time fan of Gilliam's work but I was blown away by it. Worth seeing for the special effects alone.

Well it seems that cineworld telling me they have no plans to show it at my local is a lie.
Just checked and they have it starting on Friday, a week after release.

Could be I wasn't the only one to ask why it wasn't on.

Thank you very much.
I had checked for Livingston - my nearest cinema & thought that Vue would be showing the same movies at all their locations - my mistake.
Looks like a trip to Edinburgh for me.

Cineworld are. Not sure about the others, you can email them to request it, takes a while but they usually do sort it out.

They reply within 48hrs too. However, im still puzzled as too why it's limited.

I thought it was bloody terrible!

15 minutes in and I was looking at my watch.

It was confusing and just silly. The two young leaRAB who played Anton and Valentina were awful in every way. It made no sense whatsoever.

I really didn't enjoy at all!

It's a mess. It's not clear or deep enough, and it has no real centre. The acting is good, but that's about it, and even there it's a shame they couldn't have talked Johnny Depp into doing all the non Heath Ledger scenes, because Colin Farrell was just wrong for it. And the fact Ledger wasn't available to do post production does mean a lot of his dialogue is mumbled or in the wrong accent.

And I wanted so much for it to be good. I'm annoyed now.

4/10

I have to agree with you there. Some performances were fine, some just plain irritating. At times I wasn't sure whether the actors actually had a script or were just improvising. I kinda gave up on it after the Jude Law set-piece.

You have to admire Gilliam's tenacity in getting this made but the end result is a garbled mess.

Narrative has never been his strong point & the enforced absence of his leading man isn't papered over by the conceit of casting three other actors as Heath Ledger.

Johnny Depp is his usual charismatic self & probably should have filled in all the blanks becuase when Jude Law turns up the film goes to hell in a handcart.

Love this film, finally got to see it today and wasn't disappointed.

Heard a few people come out of the cinema saying it was the worst film they had ever seen! I totally disagree and give it a 9/10

Just got back and thought it was visually amazing as well as brilliant itself. I like all the performances especially Tom Waits and Heath Ledger he seemed like a completly different person after playing The Joker.

It's one of the films where you leave the cinema and say what the hell just happened. I also didn't find it confusing, just a bit shocked at the end. If you want confusing watch something like Memento or Vanilla Sky. I just enjoyed it for what it was.
