I finally got the chance to rent the movie this past weekend, and I must say I very impressed with the final product, the script, actors, and special effects were all great. I espically enjoyed the twist at the end. So in honor of my finally getting to see it, I thought I'd post some quotes courtesy of IMDB

Eisenheim: Everything you have seen here has been an illusion.

Chief Inspector Uhl: Promise me you won't do it again.
Eisenheim: I promise you you'll enjoy this next show.

Chief Inspector: Eisenheim, I don't want to arrest you. I'm a cynical man, God knows... but if your manifestations are somehow real... then even I'm willing to admit, you're a very special person. And if it's a trick, then it's equally impressive. Either way, you have a gift. So don't make me put you in jail!

Crown Prince Leopold: What do you want?
Chief Inspector Uhl: Nothing.
Crown Prince Leopold: Then you shall get nothing.

Young Sophie: Make us disappear!

Eisenheim: Are you completely corrupt?
Chief Inspector Uhl: No, not completely, which is why I'll advise you not to accuse anyone.

Crown Prince Leopold: He has tricked you, it is all an illusion!
Chief Inspector Uhl: Perhaps there is truth in this illusion.

Sophie: What did you do to him?
Eisenheim: I gave him what he asked for.
Sophie: What possessed you to do something so foolish?

Chief Inspector Uhl: What do you want?
Eisenheim: Nothing.

Chief Inspector Uhl: Then why are you doing this?
Eisenheim: To be with her.

Eisenheim: I was meant to return... I just... I kept thinking I'll find around the next corner...
Sophie: What?
Eisenheim: A real mystery. I saw remarkable things but the only mystery I never solved was... why my heart couldn't let go of you.

Eisenheim: From the moment we enter this life we are in the flow of it. We measure it and We mock it, but we cannot defy it. We cannot even speed it up or slow it down. Or can we? Have we not each experienced the sensation that a beautiful moment seemed to pass to quickly, and wished that we could make it linger? Or felt time slow on a dull day, and wished that we could speed things up a bit?

Hmm, I just noticed 'From the producers of Crash and Sideways.' So those producers just hung around and oversaw stuff for The Illusionist. Whoopee. Now director or writer(s) I would understand, but producers? Come on.

Anyway, glad to hear the positive review on the movie. I'm gonna see it tomorrow with some friends; apparently it opened today at some of the theaters here. Weird, considering the limited release was last week, and wide release is next week. But whatever. I'm taking advantage of the early week. :D

It is weird that there has been virtually no advertising/trailors/promos for this.

I'm planning to see it. I love  Ed Norton. And Giamatti is great.

This is one of my favourite movies, the filming and the twists are amazing but the main attraction here is Edward Norton who always seems to give an excellnt performance!

Aww - Rufus Sewell is the bad guy? :( I adore him. Oh well.

Clearly it's got potential but we'll see - could just be silly. :P Can't wait to read the thoughts on those of you who see it in the theater.

And thanks for the thread!

I've actually never even seen a trailer for this movie either. This will be the first movie I've watched without seeing a TV spot or trailer for.

And it's a shame to think this movie might bomb or at least not do that well at the box office because of a lack of interest, thanks to the lack of marketing.

[Dingbat] Yeah, The Prestige has an awesome cast: Batman, Wolverine, Austin Powers's dad, and David Bowie. Damn.

[Mavericks] Love the avatar and signature. I love Christian Bale.

I love Giamatti, but I've never seen Norton in anything.

I know. I found out about this movie on some internet ad, and only seen 2 trailers on TV.

Babyj, The Prestige sounds interesting *coughhughjackmancough* so I might see it.

I am looking forward to this because of Ed Norton and Rufus Sewell. Love them! Plus it's about magic. It's nice to know that I can watch an Edward Norton film again since his latest projects have all been for unlimited releases that I can not watch.

Where's ROCKSTAR?!

Anyway, I'm seeing it Friday with some friends, one of whom is a huge Norton fan and since it's her birthday, we're seeing it. But oddly enough, my Norton fan friend didn't even know about the movie. :look:

For a movie that coming out in a couple of days, the publicity/marketing has been nonexistent for this movie. Had it not been for the internet, I would've never even known about this movie. I kinda am looking forward to this movie, but not very much, mainly because I'm more looking forward to The Prestige [another magic film that's bound to get comparisons to this one].

Then again, I'll look forward to just about any movie after watching Miami Vice. Meh.

Anyway, I think Norton's a fine actor. I haven't seen Giamatti in anything, but I hear he's great. And Biel looks like the movie's only weakness, from what little footage I've seen.
