I loved everything about this movie. Edward Norton gave a great performance and Jessica Biel was awesome.

I loved that the movie itself was an illusion, if that makes sense! :)

My room mate and I drove an hour and a half to the only theatre in Minneapolis showwing it...as of now its only in 50 theatres....

Below is what I thought.....I kept things completely spoiler free, just my vague feelings about the movie over all, for this would be a horrible movie to be spoiled for, as it unwraps itself so nicely....

First, Edward Norton is fabulous in this!! He always amazes me, and this is no exception...here he takes on yet another role he plays with ease, he comes off both intensly enigmatic and romantic. Paul Giamatti, who i dont particularly like, is also really excellent in his role...even Jessica Biel, whom is someone I dont hate, but dont like either, really shines here...hard to believe not too long ago she was running from Leatherface...

anyway, I will say its the first movie I have enjoyed in a long time and plan on seeing it again when it opens wide....I will agree that it might have problems finding an audience...as its not quite mainstream...and also now things are so all about CGI...as a side note.I hear most stunts in the movie are done real, and not with CGI, that helps...the whole aura of the movie and the way it was shot really pulls you in as well...

anyway, I do have to say there is about 15 minutes nearing the end when I did find myself wondering a bit...it just hung on a little too long before the conclusion. I would have liked to see a little more character interaction, especially between Biel and Norton, who do have rather good chemistry together (which surprised me). I really feel that I wanted more though...I wanted them to delve deeper into the story...I feel if there were a little more depth, this could have been an outstanding movie, instead of just a darn good one...

Overall, a well made movie thats major strength is its cast, particularly Norton, who really pulls the movie together...it is not without faults, but most are small and can be easily overlooked, especially when everything else is so well put together. I definitely recommend this...and I really hope people dont pass over this because of the Prestige coming out later in the year. I think once people see this, they will remember it. I know I do.

So, after I bitched and moaned I did get to see The Illusionist in threaters a few weeks back. It was playing here for weeks and weeks, I was laughing to myself thinking of me crying about it not coming here. Dumb me.

Anyway. I really liked it. It was well made, Edward Norton was......flawless.

I don't know, I just liked watching it. Not everything was a surprise, but everything was staged beautifully and gahh, I can't wait to watch it again just to see Ed Norton doing his thing.

Jessica Biel, who I can't stand most of the time was SO good. I was surprised. But she owned it.

What else can be said about Mr. Giamatti. He's so perfect, he's a movie guy. I loved his performance.

Rufus Sewell, not surprisingly kinda stole the movie in some aspects. He's always great but the role of pompous bastard suits him well every time.

I bought the dvd and watched it again.

Sometimes I have trouble watching movies with a 'twist' ending more than once. I know of a couple good films I have no desire to see again that are like that, but for some reason The Illusionist became one of those films I knew I would be able to watch again (and again). It's rare for that type of film to affect me in that way.

So anyone see it..who get to? I haven't yet, but reviews have been really positive :D

I remember that the night I watched The Score, which was AGES ago, I couldn't really *watch* it. It was one of those nights where everything is a blur when you try to think about it. I WAS quite excited but I couldn't enjoy it as I would've liked.

I need to see it again.

yeah I really liked everyones accent, they just sounds so smooth, really made the dialogue role...edwards is probably the best though

I keep getting surprised by Jessica Beil acting in this movie and others as well. She is actually getting better at being an actress, she's not great yet, just puts in a good effort that plays well. And is improving with each try.

Her and Edward Norton had great chemistry together, they just sizzle on screen. And I would have liked more scenes with them together. The two actors who play their younger selves were great romantically as well.

Edward Norton was great, he has proven himself to be a tatlented actor with chops to match him up. He is willing to push himself at the chance to try something different. I was shocked at first by his choice of accent for the movie, but I later found that I rather liked it.

I can't wait to see this, it doesn't come out until Friday though where I live. Glad to know you guys liked it.

I know what you mean...even though I know what's going to happen in the Sixth Sense..I love watching it over and over...The Illusionist had a great twist ending...lol

I want the DVD so bad. I hope I can get it soon.

I was upset that on Court TV one of the lawyers spoiled the movie. She was talking about how all signs pointed to a murder [sp]when in fact there was no murder.[/sp] She said the movie was great but damn, she spoiled it. Even if the twist can be obvious, it's fun going in not expecting it anyway.

She was talking about circumstantial cases and mentioned the movie as an example. It was a fascinating comparison, I just wished she wouldn't have spilled the beans.

Here's another one-sheet for the movie.

I prefer the one in the opening post though. This poster's suffering from The Departed syndrome. Or should I say The De Part-Ed. :look:

Shannon - I agree with all your thoughts.

I thought it was beautifully filmed...............the lighting, etc. The score was great too.

Rufus's moustache was tripping me out. He was such a treat in this.

I can't rave enough about Norton's performance. He always blows me away and this was no exception.

Ahhh well all the more reason to keep your eyes open for The Illusionist. ;)

Then you must've been giddy as a schoolgirl with The Score.

I really enjoyed this! I love the way it was filmed, with the iris shots opening and closing, and the grainy detail. Very beautiful. The score was lovely as well.

Edward never ceases to amaze me. I've loved him in Everyone Says I Love You, The Score, Keeping the Faith, Fight Club, and here was no exception. He had the walk and the movements of Eisenheim perfectly down. I loved him with Jessica Biel, who though I question the casting for her, was rather good. :)

Me and my friend are obsessed with Rufus Sewell so we were cracking up with him and his moustache.

Loved the twists and turns, and Giamatti's face at the end when it all comes together. :D

mattia - I saw it again today. Like you, I loved catching those details I missed the first time. And also like you, I still would have liked more in certain regaurds. I definitely would have liked more of Biel/Norton together. I loved the scenes they did have.

It really is a good movie. I hope word of mouth helps too.

And I'm all in for Norton's next movie. :)
