I only saw it this Easter holiday but yeah i agree. I was so tense throughout the whole thing, my hands over my face at points.
My family didn't like the ending when he went back but i don't think it was the sort of film where you could have the warm, happy ending where the heroes go home to go back to their families and live happy ever after. Although they desereved it. It would definately have been OOC for that to happen imo. That was where he fit, what made him feel alive, where he could help. He wasn't the guy for doing the cereal shopping after everything he'd been through and seen. I liked that the film addressed that side of things.
