The Human Centipede

Watched this a couple of days ago and it was so disappointing. The acting was completely useless as i expected all along, but i thought it would be compensated for by being really grusome and disturbing which it was not at all it was actually kind of a snoozefest. All of the disturbing bits are implied there is basically no gore. And the centipede looks dreadful is just looks like they are kissing each others asses and the bandages wrapped around them just make it look even more stupid. If you're gonna mek a film to shock people don't leave it up to imagination do it right and disgust people with visuals not thought because you basically leave the film with no saving grace.

I thought the same but forced myself to watch it.

It's poorly acted but not as disgusting as I thought it would be. It's more what you think in your mind, rather than what you see. There are no gruesome blood scenes or twisted surgery. There are a couple of scenes that are a bit grose to think about "feed her" but it's not on a level with Saw/Hostel.

The idea is very original but the execution is very poor. They could have done much better and I'm normally squemish about horrors but I had no problems sleeping after this.

I would recommend at least giving it a shot. The obligatory opening scene where two pretty but ditzy girls get lost in a dark, wooded and deserted road is so badly acted, it's funny rather than scary. The escape attempt was something to behold as well.

I am usually the type of person who likes horrors that leave things to the imagination, because to me that makes it a lot more disturbing.

But in the case of this film, it really did need to be more visual than it was. I agree about the 'centipede' looking really daft. But if they had went all out and made everything look real and more twisted the movie would not have been allowed to be shown in cinemas and would not make much money.

You do get that Chinese and Japanese are not the same, right? Come on, the Japanese guy even gets the best line, WHICH IS ALL ABOUT HIM BEING JAPANESE!!!

I really enjoyed it. It didn't gross me out or anything (well, the pus did a little), but I'm just overjoyed that there are still original ideas coming out of no-budget film-makers, because they are the future. Look at Raimi and Jackson- they started off with cheap-ass pictures like this, and look where they are now!

I'm looking forward to this guy's future career.

A Serbian FIlm is one of those that if you told the people the storyline, they would call you vile and perverted for thinking of even watching it. Yet if you gave the same person a copy and told them to watch it without revealing anything, they might not like it but wouldn't be able to deny that it is a powerful and moving film.
Having said that though, it is a one time only watch!

You could say that about ANY horror film -
Why would anyone make a film about a guy in a hockey mask killing camp counsellors ? :D
etc

The sad thing is you know there will be some dolt who'll ask this question and be genuine in their cluelessness! :D

Just saw the trailer for this out of morbid curiosity. Torture porn is not my thing...I was shaken just from watching the original Saw film, although so far everything about this movie has given me an LOLWTF reaction rather than one of being actually disturbed...acting/direction/writing in the trailer looks terrible...

That was what I thought, just got round to watching it. I didn't mind the bad acting from the 2 Americans, just made it easier to enjoy what was then inflicted on them.:D

I did find the film proper disturbing, and all the better for not going down the blood and guts route. The dodgy copy I watched came with subtitles for the english parts of the script, so I have no idea what the German coppers or the Japanese dude were on about! Again, for me, this just made the film more freaky!

I had heard of this film, and your post made me want to watch it. I found it too obvious and reliant on the blood and guts, but still a good watch. At least all the subtitles worked on A Serbian Film.:)

Alright! I may take my elderly grandmother & some of her frienRAB too as she loves a Bug's Life. And possibly the local vicar. I will post a review once we have watched The Human Centipede. :)

I find it very disturbing that, not only did someone want to make this film, but that people actually want to watch it.

Anyone that does is twisted.

People killing people isn't a new concept though and there's loaRAB of variations on that theme. Sewing someone's mouth, to another person's anus  Definitely new. Usually in your standard horror, someone always survives. Not sure if I would've wanted to survive like the girl in Human Centipede. I wonder if they'll show what happened to her in the next movie?
Seriously, wtf would you do if you survived, sown between two people? I know the police will come looking for the two detectives but by the time they get to her, if she hasn't already started to die from infections spread by both of the dead people she's attached to, she'll die before surgeons can operate on her.

Even if she survives the operation, half her face and ass is gone *shudders* and he sliced her knees so she can never walk again. She is going to have a slow agonising death and there's abolutely nothing she can do about it. All she can do is kneel there and wait to die. She doesn't even know the cops are on to the surgeon. I hope the cops put a bullet in her head when they arrive and end her suffering quick.

I've never heard of this film, and i've only glanced at the posts - my question is - the sun is shining, and it's really rather lovely - if I watched the trailer would it spoil my day?

PS I'm a sensitive type
