its my fav the horror movies
and 08 is a really crap year for horror in the cinema
with only one decent bigge so far cloverfield

nothing set for the summer

and saw5 is due october but i think the torcher subgenre has had its day so im not expecting big things from that.

remakes were low this year.(which is good)
jap ghost movies are almost gone with flops eye and missed call to prove this thank god

is the horror dying out for a few years????

Going by UK release dates:

[REC] is a fantastic horror for this year. Check that out if you haven't seen it. (the remake is out this year also I think, looks rubbish though)

The Orphanage
Inside - French film
The Ruins - some might like this one, but I didn't think much of it
Mother of Tears - from Dario Argento

There are quite a few out later in the year.

Horror movies do seem to have gone to ground a little this year,I think takings on the whole for horror movies have downturned in the States (especially the 'torture porn' genre) and so Hollywood don't seem willing to push much apart from remakes,Saw sequels and direct to video releases.

Apart from Mothers Of Tears which will be interesting,it's worth looking out for
Midnight Meat Train
The Happening
Mirrors
Lost Boys 2 (if you like nostalgia)

There is also a couple more remakes due :(
Death Race,
Day The Earth Stood Still

Definately take a look at Inside when you get chance,to me it was the best horror movie this decade.

How the hell can you remake 'A Nightmare On Elm street' and actually think it can be any better than it already is? That is a ridiculous idea. Not getting at you, just cursing another damn remake.
I can understand them trying with 'Friday 13th', not that I expect that to be any better neither.:(

Yeah, remaking it without Englund playing Kruger too, well he was not last time I heard.

That Mirrors is a remake too jamespondo, of a Korean film that came out a few years ago called Into the Mirror, decent film. The remake could be good because it's directed by the same man who made the remake of The Hills Have Eyes, and that was an excellent remake that I liked better than the original even. Not forgetting he made Haute Tension too!

I've been told The Strangers is rubbish.

KM31 came out this year I think here, decent horror.

Plus you have FrightFest to look forwarRAB to this year, so that will be a bunch of horror to see.

The Saw series has always been as much psychological thriller as horror. For me Saw4 was a return to form after a lack-lustre Saw3, and I welcomed their delving into the protagonist's past. Plus the contraptions were as fiendish as ever. So I'm looking forward to Saw5. They've had a nice long break now. Two whole years. I hope they used it wisely.

what do you mean 2 years?

saw 4 was out last oct07
and
saw 5 will be out this october08(it was not delayed because of the writers strike)
then
saw 6 will be out in oct09

overkill??? as long as its good i dont care

Ugh, just see the original one Cuppa_Tea. Pretty please.

From people who have seen a test screening, there is apparently
no big twist and it is in fact the plants around America giving off nasty toxins that make people just kill themselves, there is another bit to do with some architecture of a house and slaves etc but they didn't go into that too much.

They found the film terrible and his worst one yet.
