My English teacher is told us we need have three central points about our topic. I wrote the list down. I don't know which 3 points to pick from on the list.

Hello guys!

I got a question regarding English structure... how do I say in English when someone's sitting behind me with his/her back "opposed" to mine? "I was sitting on my back for him/her"? "I was sitting on my back to him/her"? How do I say that?

Thank you!

Complaint letters should be written in very polite language. You're more likely to be heard if you don't shout.

As with an essay, a complaint should have a beginning, middle, and end. The beginning should describe the situation--where and when you saw the commericial. The middle should describe the problem that you have with the ad and the effect that it had upon you--be brief but use descriptive words. And the end should essentially be a warning about results of the impact and a suggestion of how the company might resolve the problem.

Be sure the have appropriate openings and closings in the letter, too--it's impossible to be too polite in a complaint letter. And remember to ask for a response to your letter in closing.

When I google for images, I make sure and click the IMAGEs in the upper corner. Then only images come up. Maybe be as specific as possible in your seach. Is it Greek goddesses? Roman? Do you know the name of the baby goddess you need? All of that will help.

Try to look for things like metaphors, symbols, imagery, etc. Ask yourself these questions:

1. What message is the poet trying to get across?

2. What was being used to get that message across? Is there a pattern of repetition? Was a symbol being used? Was the poet trying to compare and contrast ideas?

3. How was the poem stuctured to further support the message? Was there a rhythm to it in terms of the length of each line or the choice of words that when read out loud, the sound of it matches the mood the poem is trying to create?

4. How did you feel about the poem? Most often, poems are very ambiguous when it comes to interpretation and what the poet intended may not have been how you felt about it.

6-(-2)/(-4)-2=-2-(-6)/2-x
8/(-6)=4/2-x
4/3=2-x
x=2-4/3
x=2/3

At least that's how I'd do it. The second one I don't even get. :lmao:

My problem. It would be really nice if someone could have a look at the following text. It's an explication I was supposed to write for my Introduction to English Language Studies class and I'm honestly not sure about the interpretation of it.

Do we have a thread where people can ask about shows (or movies or songs) that they can't remember the title of? I think that would make an interesting thread. :)

And I'm glad you remembered the show's name, xstarsgoblue25x. :)

I am. I'm a math major so I should be able to figure it out  You can just pm me if you have a question :)

Is there anyone good in math? i have an exam tomorrow, and I'd call one of my friends but they don't get this exercise either

There are two machines, Machine X and Machine Y, and they both produce Keys. Machine X produces 60% of the keys and Machine Y produces 40%
2% of all the key's produces by Machine X can't be used and
0,9% of all the key's produced by Machine Y can't be used.

At the and of the day, the boss picks 5 keys randomly

- What's the chance they can all be used
- What's the chance only one of them can be used
- What's the chance one or more can be used

Please? I'd be grateful for the rest of my life because I can't fail this exam.

If you meant you need to compare and contrast the kind of person you and your hubby are, then make 2 lists - one on how you 2 are alike and one on how you 2 are different. When writing your paper:

Compare = how you 2 are alike
Contrast = how you 2 are different

You also need a thesis to centralize the main purpose of the paper. For example: "We are both goal-oriented individuals but our different decision making styles have a direct effect on the pace of reaching our common goals." Then, you'll use your comparing and contrasting to explain and support your thesis.

any1 know where i can find a bunch of pictures of gods and goddesses? i need a picture of a baby goddess especially and i tried googleing it but i couldn't find anything

If you use the search term aristotle relationship between virtue and happiness on any search engine (I used Yahoo) you will come up with hundreds of web pages with the answer to this question.

The Spark Notes website includes this analysis:
The purpose of ethics for Aristotle is simply to find the ultimate purpose of human life...Ethics falls under the category of practical sciences, since its concern is not knowledge for its own sake but rather for the purpose of application. Aristotle first recognizes that happiness is the ultimate good, since all other goods are intermediate while happiness is final. We pursue other goods to achieve happiness, but happiness is valuable in itself.

The problem then becomes the question of how to achieve happiness....Aristotle concludes that the means of happiness–and hence the purpose of human existence–is virtue. Virtue involves habit and choice. By making the proper decisions, we eventually develop a virtuous habit or disposition....

I like to use the Ask.com Search Engine - Better Web Search site for finding answers to questions like this.

It was hard to find just the right search words for this and I don't have a precise answer for you but if you use terms like police to population ratios and police statistics at Ask.com you should be able to find what you want:
International Association of Chiefs of Police (there is a chart here)
Top 101 cities with the highest number of police officers in 2006 per 1000 residents (population 50,000+)
Canada Police personnel

Hi everyone!

I have a spanish class, and I really need a lot of help. Can anyone help me? :look:

^ The abbreviation you're using is what confuses me a bit, frostie. (Is that what your professor told you to use?) So, the original statement is, "If you live in a glass house, then you shouldn't throw stones" (g → s), right? Then I believe it should be written as follows:

Converse:
If you shouldn't throw stones, then you live in a glass house. (s → g)

Inverse:
If you should throw stones, then you don't live in a glass house. (~s → ~g)

Contrapositive:
If you don't live in a glass house, then you should throw stones. (~g → ~s)

I used Google to double check myself (because it's been a while since I took a logistics/math class) but I'd wait until someone who is better with math comes along to give a more definitive answer. Good luck on the quiz! :)
