I have to write a work for a proseminar at university. It's mainly about the movie "The Joy Luck Club".

And I'm supposed to find out how the movie had been received in China. But I don't know how to do that, 'cause I do not speak chinese.

Is there someone who can help me with that? Someone who is able to speak chinese and knows a couple of sites where I can find reviews from chinese people (who live in China, because they might be more patriotic than chinese people from abroad)

Umm, ok quick question, does anyone know a site with stock pictures, sort of like corbis.com, where you give keywords and search for photographs?
 
i was wondering if anyone has played a game called marketstrat? its a game for my marketing class.
 
Question for English speakers, in this sentence "Provides fast and effective relief", the teacher's book says that the underlined words are, respectively, adverb, adjective and verb. Is this correct? :confused:
 
:nod: This is easy really. First you have to break the quote down because it's in two parts separated by a semicolon.

"Believe those who are seeking the truth" That makes sense, doesn't it? If someone is seeking the truth, then he is admitting that he doesn't know everything and that he is working toward a goal. I would find a person believable if he was honest in this manner.

"Doubt those who find it" Obviously the "it" also refers to the truth. If a person claims to know the truth, why would you doubt him? Well, don't you tend to doubt a person who thinks he knows everything and who thinks he knows more than you do? Essentially, a person who is too full of his own convictions is likely to be full of little else.

So what is the conclusion from the combination of these two halves? I'm sure you can come up with the rest of the answer from here. :)

Hey all! I have to write an essay/study about the differences of Christian Faith's, in the eye of people. So i thought i'd ask you guys!

I have my plot down. it's kind of a....Tim Burton style story. kinda dark. rhyming. i'm just bad at writing and thought maybe someone might WANT to help. ya kno?

I think what you need to do is put all of the verbs in the brackets into past tense.
most of A you just need to add a D or ED on the end. (6 of them you do that for, I'll let you work out which)
 
If anybody knows of good articles about solar power, that would be extremely helpful!

I have to write a paper on it, so anything and everything you have is fine! The only thing is that it must have an author, my teacher is a real stickler on that.
 
I need some help for a school project, but it's kind of a weird thing to ask for :lol: I need a bunch of scenes from TV shows (and now I'm desperate enough I'll take movies too), and my spectrum of shows is pretty limited. I figured since most TV shows or actresses have representation on FF I could possibly get a good variety here. I’m looking for scenes of women professing their love to men, asking them to say they love them, asking them to choose them, crying to them, begging them not to leave, or to share their feelings, etc… (Scenes like this or this or this). They can be from any TV show/soap/movie. If anyone can think of any scenes that may work, I would really appreciate it if you could PM me with a link to the scene on YT or a description and episode number :flowers: Even if it's just one line in a scene, cause that's about all I'll be using in my project. I'm really looking for just clips of women saying things like "Pick me (or Choose me, or love me)," "Say it," "Tell me," "Don't go (or don't leave)" or just crying/having a breakdown. Any suggestions would be much appreciated :)
 
:hug: I had a hard time in school with math, too. It's a good thing that there are people here who like to help with homework questions. :)

Pros - Motivation for the students, fair assessment for everyone, easier for teachers to keep track/make comparisons/determine students' progress etc.

Cons - Students may be too focused on achieving high marks and ignore the learning process, sometimes it's difficult to come up with an effective marking scheme for some subjects, sense of failure for those who can't keep up.

You can probably find some stuff online. Just remember that material for children tend to have very basic and simple themes that run through the whole story or poem. Try not to get too complicated with anything; it should flow smoothly and be easy to follow.
