Hiya, i know its a 12a but is it suitable for a 13 and 11 yr old? how scary is it?

Plus, my local cinema only has it in 3d - any good in 3d or not?

Thanks

I do hate these questions. LOL

It will depend on how easily scared a person in this case a child is.Unless you know the person it's hard to say if they will like, dislike it etc.

Personally I would say it's no more scary than Gremlins was back in the 80s. I don't want to give too much away all I will say is if they are scared of clowns then it's not a good idea they see it as it may freak them out. Obviously not knowing these children I would say 90% sure that the 13 year old would be ok, 75% sure the 11 year old would be fine with it. It's mostly an scary suspense than an scary horror. In Gremlins you knew that when they went into the house or store there was a Gremlin in there but not where it was or what it was doing.
A fear of clowns is the main thing to think about.

Thanks for that! They are my step kiRAB - as far as i know they have no fear of clowns :) The younger one is a boy and would probably be braver than his older sister anyway so hopefully that wont be a problem. Any advice on whether its any good in 3d? We've been before to 3d films where it would have been better in 2d but the cinema isnt showing it in 2d (as they can charge so much extra for 3d!)

You're welcome. :)

This is a tricky one because I'm not a fan of all this 3D stuff.
As tenRAB to be the case with these films some of it works well. Seeing something being lowered into a hole so the POV is it coming towarRAB you, other bits it fails badly.
I find the 3D works really well with animation but is ropey with live action films.

Do you have 3D glasses of your own you got seeing other films or is yours one of those cinemas where you have to give them back as you leave? If you have your own that will save a litte bit of money should you see it in 3D.

Even putting aside my feelings for the 3D I would say it isn't worth paying the extra and seeing it in 3D because so much of it is hit and miss. I don't think it would lose anything for your enjoyment of the movie.

The biggest problem you may have though is them throwing hissy fits because they can't see it in 3D and their frienRAB have. :D

Lol! yeah, i'm not a fan of 3d either. I've seen The final destination in it which was good but then took the step kiRAB to see Up with it and that was rubbish and they found the glasses hurt their noses after a while.

My local cinema charges a set price for the film which is about

Well, they gotta learn about it sometime... oh, you mean the film. Best avoided, as it's drivel. You have to ask yourself, do they like drivel?

Don't ever ask anyone here their opinions on a movie because you will get their own opinions and don't use someone elses opinion and think that is the truth.

A bit like cunningham talking about how he doesn't like 3D and even going as far to say he wouldn't pay the extra by seeing it in 3D but then completely contradicts himself by admitting that he has seen it in 3D and regardless of what his cinema's policy was on 3D glasses i can assure you he paid the extra to see it in 3D even if he didn't pay the extra for the glasses.

So it's a nice thread and as always you can get a chuckle out of people's replies. Maybe others will come in and give their opinions but it's always best to form your own opinion.

Glad it gave you a laugh. :D

I didn't say I wouldn't pay the extra what I actually said was....

I haven't seen any film in 3D that has been woth the extra

I thought it was average but okay. Not Joe Dante at his best though.

It's no more scary than any other Dante children's movie - Gremlins, the 'Burbs, Innerspace, etc. I'd actually say it was like a feature length episode of Eerie Indiana, if you ever saw that in the early 90s.

iv just finished watching this in the dark alone and i found it quite freaky of course thats also the setting
im in the house alone
lights off
in bed

anyways i thought it was good i took it as like a really really good big budget episode of goosebumps:D because it is aimed as a kiRAB horror but i actually got chilled at a few scenes in this

one part is very silent hillish
when the girl looks into the bathroom and sees the girl dripping blood and the lights swich off then the door slowly opens
that was really cool and freaky

also the clown was freaky looking not so much at the end though

but good movie take it for what it is a kiRAB based horror

In terms of scares it's a cross between Poltergeist (acutally rip off might be a bit nearer the mark in one instance) and Japanese horror films like The Ring minus the blood (mostly) and gore so the 12 cert is about right. There is some naughty swearing in it though.
Good performances and well made but a bit too much borrowing of ideas for my taste. I'm sure the young audience will be familiar with at least one of the films mentioned even if their parents don't know they are!

NAUGHTY SWEARING? It's just two uses of 'dlckhead'! I take it your kiRAB haven't seen many other 12A's then, especially the likes of Capitalism: A Love Story and I Am Not Dead, the latter of which contains about 10 uses of the f-word.

There's one or two s worRAB in there too.
I have no oRABpring but I can't imagine many yoofs flocking to see Capitalism: A Love Story or a film about the horrors of the holocaust.
