You actually have it wrong.

Nintendo wen't to sony about making a console that could play both cd's and cartridges. Then they had some kind of agreement and Nintendo then flaked on it. That's when the head of sony said "Do it" and they made the psX to spite nintendo for flopping on the deal.

Dude...do your research.

Look at the first ever Playstation, you will see Nintendos name on the console...not Sony. All Nintendo needed was the CD technology. Sony had no experience in the gaming market atall.

Sony pulled out of the whole deal because they didnt agree on the profit margins.

What are these videos from anyway? Are these sponsored by Sony?

You might want to watch the video before you start commenting without evidence. He at least provided some kind of link, wheres yours? It was nintendo who backstabbed sony and tried to sign a cd game version with phillips.

Unbelievable...I dont need to provide evidence for this, its history and it happend.

These videos are mostly a load of shit. Most people know this.

Look at the first picture of the Playstation and Sony wont have its name on it because of profit disagreements, its all history.

Sony was a fucking beginner in the gaming market, came out of nowhere and Nintendo was lucky they had CD technology (we find out later they obviously werent).

Long story short...

- Nintendo & Sony teamed up, created SNES CD
- Nintendo had plans to create their own Nintedo playstation (a SNES CD rom, pictured above), was too expensive, failed (priced at $1000 in 1991).
-Nintendo teamed up with Phillips, Sonys biggest rivals. Nintendo & Sony partnership was cancelled.
-SNES CD was scrapped, N64 was released. Sony had rights to use the name playstation and rereleased the console.

Most people should fucking know this, these videos are slightly wrong. Sony wanted a share of every game sold on the SNESCD but Nintendo just wanted to give them a lump sum.

If it wasnt for Nintendo, Sony would still be making pointless media types.

Remember the court battle with Sony VS Nintendo for the right to use Playsation as the name??

Why do you think playstation games are called PSOne or PSX? they arent allowd to use the phrase "playstation games" anymore. Sony lost the battle.

Exactly. Nintendo had an agreement with Sony. They flaked on the deal and left sony in the cold. Then sony decides to create it's own system. Which it did.

It was Nintendo's console and Sony wanted most of the profit. All Nintendo wanted was the CD technology. This was all Nintendo's technology apart from the CD write speeds.

Basically Sony was greedy and wanted a share on every game sold. Nintendo disagreed.

These videos are innaccurate slightly...

Well people need to get this straight.

Nintendo had HUGE experience in the gaming market. Sony had nothing.

All Sony added to the console was CD capability which was already available from Phillips.

Sony wanted massive profits from every game sold and decided to leave Nintendo and "steal" the "playstation" name which they recently lost the right to use the word playstation for the PSOne.

Yes, an agreement to make a CD console, thats it. Sony then proposed that they wanted a profit margin on every game sold which was fucking ridiculous. Its like Nvidia demanding Sony they want 10% of profit of every PS3 game sold.

Even though the console was a failiure because of the ridiculously high price of the Sony technology ($1000)...sound familiar?
