This is such a good film. It was so different to what I was expecting. It has been really well written, and directed so well.

If you haven't seen this film yet, rent it out or buy it!!!

I love the way it wasn't predictable. I thought it was going to be naughty school boys that need to be whipped into shape, or some kind of grange hill/skins kind of feel to it but its NOT AT ALL!!!

Its strange but soo catchy and different!!

Has anyone here seen it??
What did you think?

Great, very funny and moving

The guy who plays Posner has a fine singing voice, but the best performance was by the guy who played Scripps..Jamie Parker,

Hope to see the stage version one day

I'm clearly the only person on the planet who didn't get it!

It was really strange. All I kept thinking throughout the entire movie was that if guys acted like that at any school they'd be beaten up on a regular basis.

And the teacher/motorbike storyline. WTF? They just accept that because they like the guy?

Lol, yeah it is kind of strange but i think thats why i liked it, because its different.
However, i think you'll find that there are guys who act like that in some all boys schools, (obviously not exactly like that but similar)
I don't know really, i just find that all boys or all girls schools have a totally different atmosphere to mixed schools. Its kinda strange!

I saw this recently and didn't quite get it myself.

I read later that the film was a straight xeroxing of the West End play, and that nothing had been changed or adapted in the move from stage to screen.

For me in particular the scene with the boys in the hall at the end talking about what happens to them in the future felt really stiff. I can see that working better on a stage.

I didn't help that the day before we had watched the excellent Starter For 10 and so my expectations were raised.

love love love it, exspecially dominic cooper....but it truely is such a good film

it has an excellent case, and the chemistry between actors is brilliant, it just works and works so well

There are quite a few changes between the play and the film, the play is about an hour longer and so a lot has been lost in the film. It does work better as a play I think but I love the film too. The cast are amazing and apparently Alan Bennett wrote many of the parts around the people who originally played them which is why they work so well. I don't think the original cast can be beaten. I have seen the play twice, once with the original cast (who are also the film cast) and then again with a different cast and the originals will always be my personal faves, subsequent casts lack that certain something for me. If anyone is interested the play was recorded as a radio play a few years ago and then released on CD, defo worth a listen! :)
