The Gulf oil leak day 37

Well, under-regulation got us a 37 day oil gusher a mile below the water surface in the gulf, so I'm willing to try the other way.

Hard to believe it's been 37 days and still leaking oil at 5000 barrels/day according to BP which is probably an underestimate. The ecological, geological, and economic damage this oil spill will produce is going to by massive and it's already starting to take effect in the LA wetlands. All we see on the television are birds and fish covered in oil but in reality the life chain begins in these wetlands for many creatures. Not to mention the businesses that will be ruined due to a complete stop in the tourism and fishing industries. This has gone far beyond the blame game as I am in agreement with Obama's statement the other day Just "plug the dam hole" Let's hope BP's latest attempt to "top kill" the leak which uses drilling mud and cement to plug the leak will be successful. Then we can start pointing fingers.

good point, that's going to stir up an oily mess along the Gulf Stream especially if a Hurricane enters the Gulf region. And predictions are for a very active hurricane season due to the warmer Sea Surface Temperatures in the Atlantic right now.

Shut up hippie, the enviroment will be fine. Oil spills happen all the time.

Drilling can be done effectively and environmentally safely.

Drilling while skipping over safety regulations is absolutely retarded.

Obama has failed our country again. Rather than focusing on the problem, he's in Cali last night campaigning for Barbara Boxer.

Loser!!!!!

I wish the politics were kept out of this thread but seeing how it is a political forum it's hard to avoid. I really hope regardless of what your political stance is that we are all in agreement in Obama's statement to "plug the dam hole" it's been 37 days and people's patience are wearing thin on both sides of the political spectrum.

If the oil hits the keys I'm assasinating every BP employee involved until they catch me.

had there not been the regualtions already we wouldnt have a problem over a mile deep, maybe at a much more manageable couple of hundred feet instead.

I really don't know why they haven't done the top-kill until now. Doesn't really make sense.

I am supposed to be heading to the gulf early next week if it doesn't work. Not looking forward to that.

You mean like how they kept Bush out of Katrina?

At least Katrina was an act of God.....

I guess Winter/Spring is "catastrophic oil spill season" and Obama can direct disaster agencies to prepare for that.

I heard on the radio this morning that the top kill could potentially make things worse? How is that so?
