The Grudge (Ju-On)

Saw this last night on DVD and I have to say that it's the scariest film I've seen in a long time.

It's not actually that good a film- the plot is simplistic and the storyline is all over the place. it's just very very (very ) scary. I damn near cr@pped myself watching it on my own .

Anyone else agree/disagree?

Mind you, I can't actually think of a film that has genuinely scared me since Nightmare on Elm Street (and I was about 9 at the time!) I do sometimes have night visions of the freaky dudes from Hellraiser though if that counts......!!

I'm a wimp though with some scary films..one particular bit in the Japanese version of the Ring (the scariest bit) had me screaming literally for about 2 minutes non stop! Which can be embarrassing. Luckily i was watching it at home!

I would actually love to have that kind of reaction, all I manage is a grin at how clever the director has been or a groan at how I saw it coming a mile away!!

Japanese / Korean movies and games do it for me over American attempts any day!

Loved "Ring"? try "Phone", Loved "Resident Evil"? try "Silent Hill", "Crimson Butterfly" and "Project Zero"

They scare the bejeeeeezus outta me!

I saw a few things coming a mile away (the music is a give away at times) in the Grudge! Didn't stop me being a wuss though!

I must toughen up.

This (the Japanese) version of "The Grudge" is superb, beats the hell out of the US rebotch. I watched with the original Japanese DTS soundtrack and English Subtitles on and thought it was very creepy indeed. I love these Asian horror films.... Watch out for "One Missed Call" or as it is going to be issued over here next month as "Phone" --- excellent stuff.

I ordered One Missed Call and Dark Water from CD-WOW (6.99) over a month ago; haven't watched it yet!

Also brought the Japanese versions of The Grudge and Grudge 2.

its probably for the best that you state which version you are watching, because i'm not convinced everyone is watching the jpn version (unless some cinemas showed that too recently?)

personally i'm watching them in the correct order (The Curse, The Curse 2, The Grudge, The Grudge 2, All New Happy Shiny Yank Grudge-o-Rama 2004 Hyper Edition.)
