1998. First of all, the players back then were a touch older, and the game was much different as well, and nothing like it is now. There are also more advantages these days for players, with video tape, better workout and training techniques, better dieting regimens and a ton more info to better yourself, than there was back then.

Players these days are a load stronger, faster and more powerful, as well as the pitchers too.

Also, guys back then didnt play 3 rounds like we do now. There was no wild card, no 'divisions', and alot of their play off records are a bit 'skewed'. One example, would be Mantles post season HR's which i believe was broken by either Bernie Williams or Manny Ramirez. These guys did it in 3 different rounds, while all of Mantles came in the WS lol, so there ya go. I believe it was just a bit 'easier' than it is for players now, even though they too, have it 'easier' in some areas.

It definitely wouldnt be a runaway on either side, but i think the 98 team would be able to take em in 6 games.

And yea, Lou and Babe were definitely the best 1-2 punch youll ever see, but....already remember, good pitching beats good hitting, ALWAYS. And the 98 team had some damn amazing pitching, not to mention that special guy who closes games hehe.

1927. Both teams are quite evenly matched, and I would have given the 1998 Yankees the win but two factors work against them. Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. The greatest 3-4 combination of all-time is what gives the '27 Yanks the edge.
