Ok, so my family and I were playing Trivial Pursuit. The teams were Guys vs. Girls.
When it was the guys turn to answer, the girls read this question: "How many smokestacks did the Titanic have?" The guys answered 4. Then, the girls said NO. They said the correct answer was 3 because the 4th one was for decoration. Well, me being the Titanic expert, I spoke up and said "I knew that" ( I really did )
So, the question did not say "How many working smokestacks did the Titanic have" it was "How many smokestacks did the Titanic have"
We then spent the next 30 minutes telling each team why they were wrong. So, what really should be the correct answer? 3 or 4? Here are the sides:
Guys: The question said 'How many were there' NOT 'How many working ones'
Girls: It doesn't matter what it said, you still answered it wrong.
Let me make this clear: The correct answer was 3 but the guys disagreed.
I am looking for an explained answer and I will no doubt pick you as Best Answer.
Thanks!
