The Great Pumpkin tonight at 8/7 on ABC

Me Being Me

a little late, as I just got home from work. I missed the opening credits, dammit.

Wish they showed it a little earlier than right before Halloween, but whatever.

Looks like they showed the same uncut-yet-heavily-DVNR'ed version they aired last year (followed by the same edited-and-heavily-DVNR'ed version of "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" that they aired last year too).

I still say it's not really Halloween until I've heard Sally yell "YOU OWE ME RESTITUTION!"

Question: at any point in the Great Pumpkin special do they yell "TRICK OR TREAT, SMELL MY FEET!" I remember seeing this over and over on a kid's VHS copy whenever she was in the house, and it wasn't in tonight's "uncut" version.

I`m always missing CB`s holidays special. By the way,do they still air garfileds holiday toons as well? I have not seen those In years.

I certainly DID watch it..It's a real treat to see year after year...:) And yes, I love the way it was uncut with Schroeder playing the piano and Snoopy dancing to it....But I just never know what Schroeder is playing.... Is it "It's a long way from Tipperary?" Or something?" Hmmmm..oh well, I certainly can't wait for the Christmas Special and also possibly the Thanksgiving one, too..I'm just so SAD that Charles Schultz is gone!!:crying: :crying: :crying:

I was going to watch it, but I said...naaaahhh, and I popped in the clear DVD version instead. I said I have no Cable, and I can bearly get the free channels. plus I don't wanna have to see it cut down for commercials.

Then I watched my DVD of Fat Albert's Halloween Special.

I watched it last night - I haven't really watched it the past few years, so it was nice. My dad was watching with me, and he sang ALL of the songs that Shroeder was playing on the piano

Yeah I saw it last night and I noticed something weird. Sally never went trick-or-treating but in the Thanksgiving episode she made a coment like "But I haven't eaten all of my Halloween candy"

Seeing "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" was a welcomed surprise for me as I used to own it on VHS. Though I wish they hadn't cut the radio call-in scene with Lucy, Linus and Snoopy in half as that was a real highlight for me. Kinda ironic that they would show it going into an elction year though.;)

btw,

JOE COOL IS DA MAN!!!!

Yeah, I wanna know too. What is this DVNR?

P.S. I didn't watch the special either. I'd rather watch specials like that with a clear picture, too. (I still don't have cable yet.)

DVNR is a film and video restoration process (it stands for "digital video noise reduction"). It has no ill effect on live action, but when used on animation, it tends to make the outlines and other parts of the image briefly blur and disappear in some scenes. In "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", the DVNR is blatantly obvious in Snoopy's World War I Flying Ace sequence, among others. It's also present in "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" when Snoopy gets his three-ring binder caught on his foot.
