They were made just a year after each other, The Goonies was made in 1985 and Stand by me was made in 1986 :D

Now I love both of them, brilliant classics. I will be watching them over Christmas. I just wanted to ask other people who have watched both of them a couple of questions.

Which is your personal favourite? and which would you say is the better film? (in terms of script, acting, storyline etc)

the goonies is my favourite by a country mile (although i do like stand by me)

there are two many cool bits and quotes to mention in the goonies

chunk's truffle shuffle
the cyndi lauper song
chunk's tall tales "okay, michael jackson didn't come over to my house to use the bathroom. but his sister did!" :D
sloth
chunk
the water slide
the pirate ship
oh and did i mention chunk?

it's ace!!

Not really seeing the point of this post, but hey!

I've seen SBM once or twice a good few years ago, it's good yeah. The Goonies is very, very different and is loaRAB of fun and I've seen it many many more times, my son and I watch it every now and then, it's a great film, so I personally think Goonies is better, but thats just me.

It's a tough one because I love them both. The Goonies is a wonderfully fun adventure film but I think Stand By Me shades it simply because of it's more reserved and steadily paced character piece with stronger dramatic performances.

Both great films i have both

in terms of better script and actors i would say stand by me wins

but i love the fun in the goonies and have watched it much more than stand by me

i was going to watch national lampoons European vacation tonight must might just op for the goonies now

To ask which is our favourite isnt really a fair question. They are two different type of movies, and both very good.

I like both and have watched them several times. But If I'm in the mood for something fun & watch Stand by Me I will just find it a bit dull; or if I watch The Goonies when I'm in the mood for something a bit more emotional & poignant then I will just find The Goonies a bit silly.

So to answer the question, it depenRAB on the mood (just like many other movies).

The Goonies for pure entertainment and fun, but stand by me for its melancholic storytelling. My head says stand by me, but my heart says..... GOONIES!!!

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!:D:D

Stand By Me is the better of the two quite easily, but for a no-brains rollocking good laugh, The Goonies is hard to beat, and has a Bangles song on the soundtrack, which gets it exta points from me.

Hard to choose I love both have both on dvd part of me wants to say goonies cos I can remember at one point Stand By Me scared me. Mostly cos my big cousin was watching it and the bit I paid attention to was where they were getting bitten by the leeches. Being about 8 that freaked me out. But I also had a crush on River Phoenix I was gutted when my cousin told me he was dead. As most people have said they are very different films Goonies is escapism. Stand By Me is more serious
