The Goonies DVD

I noticed that and e-mailed play.com where I bought the DVD from.

They replied by saying this has happened with a lot of copies so I should return mine to them for a refund as they cannot be guarantee to send me a replacement with the commentary on.

On Ceefax's DVD news page there is an article about this. Apparently it's a distribution mistake and they are replacing the incorrect copies, and the article gives an address to send your DVD to so that you receive the right copy back. Sorry, I'm not sure which page it is on Ceefax, but it's in the Entertainment section. Hope that helps.

Reports have come flooding in this week about Monday's DVD release of The Goonies not containing the product advertised in magazines and on the box. Warner have now issued the following statement with regarRAB to this issue:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warner Home Video regrets to announce that, due to a manufacturing error, the DVD version of The Goonies has been distributed with an incomplete disc.

The incomplete DVD disc contains English language only and not the full range of languages listed on the sleeve. In addition, the audio commentary is missing from the disc.

The correct version containing all the listed languages plus the audio commentary will be available at all retailers from next Monday 11 October.

Anyone who has purchased a copy of the DVD containing the incomplete disc can exchange their DVD for the correct version by following these instructions:

Remove the DVD disc from its box

Place the disc in an envelope along with your name and address

Seal the envelope and send FREEPOST to:

GOONIES
FREEPOST SCE 4551
PO BOX 327
HAYES
UB3 1BR

Please allow up to 28 days for delivery of replacement.

Or alternatively again you can choose the quicker and cheaper option of buying it this Monday when the DVRAB with the commentary will be released properly

Hmm, It's a good job I read this thread because I hadn't even check to see if the audio commentary was on my disk. Funnily enough it's not!!

Do I send my disk to the address above or contact Amazon, who I bought the DVD from?

I would have done this, I had Goonies on pre-order from Play since they made the first anouncement (later retracted) 3 years ago. The American release is RCE, my DVD player is chipped for Region 1, but I have always been nervous of the added encoding.

As well as the other things that have been missed of the disc. SOme site have got this dvd advertised as PG, 12 or 15? As i have got one with 12 on and have seen the 15 cover on internet shop.

Plus people with just the english version on the dvd might as well keep it and buy one with a full then you got one as there is only so many English only ones made.

12 is it rating have a look here http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Class...724019719604450880256f10001b4771?OpenDocument

I also noticed that according to the BBFC website that this was an uncut version of the film.

I didn't see anything uncut it. Its just the same as the PG version i've got on video.

Does anyone know what was meant to be different?

At the beginning of the movie, the Fratelli brother that is in jail, fakes his own hanging to escape. This scene was always heavily edited when shown on TV.

"You shmuck, do you really think I'd be stupid enough to hang myself?"

I was lucky enough to see this at the cinema - the first movie I ever went to without my parents. Woo yay!

Even now at 32 years of age this movie makes me laugh out loud!

I cant believe they messed up the UK DVD release of The Goonies after taking years to release an indentical version as the US version. My girlfriend bought a region 1 copy of The Goonies about 2 years ago and has never had any problems with it. I have never had any problems with ordering Region 1 DVRAB!

Doesn't the DVD have that octopuss scene that they talk about at the end with the reporters and most of us who only saw it on TV are left wondering "what the hell is he on about? When was this?"

Yeah, it's in the deleted scenes. And you can tell why it was cut out.

The fact that the line is left in makes the film all the funnier for me. I just find it funny that even after all the adventures they had, one of them would lie about an event that didn't actually happen. - KiRAB!

I quite enjoyed the comentary, but to be honest I'm not sure I would bother listening to it again. However, as you haven't got what you paid for I would ask for a refund and get the region 1 version (if your player works with r1 obviously).

Hope that helps
