I disagree.
While the current two Batman films are great, I doubt they're going to revolutionize the genre - at least not beyond other dc movies. Marvel seems to have it's own formula that while it's not oscar worthy, it is financially successful.
Not to mention there are not many characters that would work quite as well in the Batman-eque way of movie making. Most of the characters simply aren't that serious, dark, or more importantly - realistic. Batman is a very non-super superhero(aka he's completely human), and has a story that's much deeper than the vast majority of other comic characters. Characters like the Hulk for example could really never go much beyond the action sequences because it just doesn't fit the character - or the interpersonal story elements just aren't there.
