The Girl With The Dragon Tattoos

They've already been made, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest have already been released on DVD in Denmark I believe, I'm waiting for them to come out here in the US... :)

They are apparently doing a remake of The GIrl with the Dragon Tattoo - unfortunately Kristen Stewart is in line to be Lisbeth Salander and Daniel Craig as Blomkvist. I can't help but think either of these castings would not work...

I'd like to see someone like Liam Neeson or Harrison Ford as Blomkvist (an older actor than Daniel Craig) and perhaps Fairuza Balk or Neve Campbell to play Salander although they are probably a little old now...

The girl who played with fire is comming out in August in the UK and the girl who kicked the Hornets nest is scheduled for a November release. These are the Sweedish language versions. No idea about the re-makes and don't plan on watching them. Kirstin Stewart is really taking the biscuit as Lisbeth.

Anyhow even though I've read the books can't wait to see the Sweedish versions later this year.

The other two movies aren't quite as good as the first but still worth a look. It's a mystery why they haven't been released yet as they were made and available by "other means", ages ago.

Have you seen them???

I've read the books and I actually thought the second book: The girl who played with fire was by far the best of the 3, so Im really looking forward to seeing the second film. I hope it does the book justice.

Now knowing Daniel Craig is going to be Blomkvist has put me right off. I dont mind DC but he isnt Blomkvist.

Natalie Portman has now been mentioned as Lisbeth which could be good - I'd like to see her take that role...Kristen Stewart would just be unforgiveable to me... *shakes head*

The second one has already had a limited theatrical run in the US, and the third is coming out in the Fall. I saw both the first and second one at the theater.

Haven't both already been ruled out? I thought Carey said herself that she wouldn't be playing Lisbeth, and didn't RAB post a story that said there was a shortlist of five actresses that I'd never heard of (apart from Emily Browning)

the 2nd and 3rd films are nowhere near as good - they were made for tv though i think, unlike the 1st which was made for the cinema..

one thing i don't get about the first film - the ending

why did they show lisbeth throwing a fire bomb at her father?? its the main mystery of the 2nd book! makes no sense to do that

i assume that maybe they thought they wouldn't get to make the 2nd and 3rd books so wanted to have a neater ending..

Yes it's a reference to what happens in the second book and I guess the second film. I think they must have known they were going to make films of the second and third books because they are being released so quickly after the first film.

I think they made all three movies at the same time. On the "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" DVD, there is an interview with the woman who plays Lisbeth, and I think she said that she was glad to film all three in one go, or something

I think they should go with an unknown mid-to-late twenties actress for the part of Lisbeth in the remake. All the ones that have been mentioned look too young to play the part convincingly (Emily Browning in particular looks about 15 and too cute to play a jaded computer hacker...). I actually like Kristen Stewart in most films apart from Twilight (she really just seems to be doing those films for the industry exposure and paycheck imo), but she'd be totally wrong for Lisbeth.

The upcoming English adaptation of the Millenium Trilogy aren't based on the Swedish films but the books similar to the Tim Burton's film version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so I imagine it will differ in some way and they are filming in Sweden once Daniel Craig finishes filming on Cowboys and Aliens. It's directed by David Fincher who has done some great films like Se7en, Benjamin Button etc

I think they'll go for an unknown for Lisbeth rather than a name.
