Rooney Mara has been officially confirmed in the lead role of Lisbeth Salander in the forthcoming 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.'

What do people think? I think it's a pretty good choice, all things considered.

Disappointed! Did no one see her in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. She was really bad. The blonde actress who got killed off halfway though who everyone thought was the lead, but she wasn't, acted better than Rooney Mara.

Would have preferred another unknown actress to be honest but i'm not surprised. She will become a big star off the back of this.

Yep, who cares, as the lack of originality in Hollywood strike again, and remakes a perfectly good film less than 2 years after it was made!

im not a fan of most remakes but i wish people would stop going on about the original versions

fire and hornets nest are TERRIBLE films. made on the cheap, tv movies.

only the first was made for cinemas initially and even then they have messed it up - bringing forward the climax of book 2 to the end of film 1 so they can give the character some closure.

rubbish films. hopefully the 3 hollywood ones will have the same director and crew (unlike the original films) which will give them some uniformity

swedish made the first film not sure it would be a hit so wrecked the series i think by putting elements of the 2nd book in it

then they made the 2nd and 3rd a lot cheaper for release on tv

all 3 are being released at the cinema here, though due to them being subtitled lots of people won't see them

so the americans are remaking all 3

Don't wait until the remakes... see the original trilogy, at least the first one. Even though it brings something from the second/third into the first, it IS still a good adaption of the first book.

Ok I'll watch the remakes of the 2nd and 3rd. The one that this casting is for though is the 1st film (2 and 3 might never be made) and the original of that was excellent.
