Has anyone else seen this movie?..

Regardless of what you though of the film, did anyone else think the guy playing Eli, the porno obsessed film student had been shown a load of early John Cussack films and told "Do that!"
 
Just litterally finished watching it (rented it on DVD) and I must say that I agree with what you are saying - there's a number of (non) intentional noRAB and winks ;)

However, I has actually quite impressed with the film's bite and the sheer number of dark undertones that were involved - especially for a rom-com!
The director seems to have his head screwed on too which was nice - none of this pretentious malarky that some of them come out with on the commentary...

I just watched this tonight and definately thought the same thing about Eli/John Cusack. At first it was just the physical resemblence but by the end it was pretty blatent. I didn't it though, he was funny in the role.

Elisha Cuthbert, for saying she played a porn star, is just stunning in the literal Girl Next Door style role.
 
I thought the abuse of the girl was a little over done. Only some of those things actually happened to Sylvia Likens. If you want a slightly more accurate and, less gruesome account of what actually happened, watch An American Crime.
