buy a new car? 2000 Ford Focus 155k miles. I had to have timing belt replaced to check if valves were bent, apparently they are. It's going to cost $1100. If they repair it, will it be like a new engine? I can buy a salvaged engine for $400-600 with 40-60k miles. Should I just replace engine? Should I just buy another car?

Yeah, you can buy a salvaged engine for $400, but then you have another $800 on top of that to put it in. I would just buy a new car...

the car is to old and will cost you more in the long run. it is only worth about £800 so buy a newer model from a trusted mechanic

At a 155k and 8-9 years of age the car really has no value. Do not repair an engine with this mileage. Either buy a used engine which will cost about the same as the repairs, or get another one. The choice is yours. Drive old fateful for a few more years or get a new ride with the associated costs.
