I hate society. They base everything around looks. If you're not super-model hot, you are nothing, unless you're either famous, rich, or both.

If you don't have an education, you can't get a job, even if all you want is a job in a shitty little warehouse somewhere, that requires no education. Yes, I am in that same boat. I don't have my grade 12 diploma. As a direct result, I can't get a job. I bet even McDonald's would turn me down.

Of course, it may be the fact that I have long hair and dress like a bum. Which, of course, goes back to the looks thing. But I dress in a way that I am comfortable. If people don't like it, fuck them. I don't feel like I should have to change to meet people's standards. If I were to get a job working around food, I could see why I would have to cut my hair. But not if I was working in, for example, a hardware store. But I hate working with people.

People suck.
 
there are ways around society's restrictions of class, appearance and education.

self employment: if you have a good business head, and a low overhead start-up then the world can be yours.. i'm sure bill gates was deemed most likely to fail by some of his more 'networky' peers.

travel: take a while out, get a few hundred bucks (sell up your stuff) and get abroad, you'll need to work from time to time to stay out there but as long as you can pick fruit in israel, wash dishes in europe, teach english in asia you'll always make enough to stay where you want without using any money you have, you won't actually turn a profit but you'll grow one hell of a lot more than sitting at home with the guys.. i did all the above and more, i left my school friends behind.. there's a few circuits on the go too, example.. summer in greece doing tourism related jobs then winter in india doing drugs.. i know people who have done that for 10 years.

avoid crime whatever you do.. it's always there and we all get tempted but when you look back on this lil' trip through life it is a lot better to say to yourself, "i never got busted".. which is a lot more than most people can say these days.. ;)
 
Yeah, I would like to bitch about the appearance thing, but I joined the military so I have restrictions:mad:

No wearing an undershirt in public, No blabla bla.

Hope you get a better job:thumbsup:
 
I know what you mean. Because I'm a little pudgy, people take one look at me and then shoo me out the door. That and the fact that I'm a college student doesn't help. All the jobs around campus for like 2 miles are taken. I know exactly how you feel Unforgiven. Good luck on the job hunt. :hug2:
 
i kinda like being fat and ugly. i know when people like me it's for my personality and not some shallow reason. of course, it's hard to get attractive women to look at you twice, but if they're that shallow i don't want 'em anyway.


and with your looks, get a game in the gaming industry. i test games for a living. as long as you're hygeinic you're fine.
 
If anything, you can try to get a job at a movie theatre. I've gotten in there w/o a diploma (I was still in high school at the time) and they've even hired fifteen-year-old kids. So it shouldn't be much of a problem getting a job. Even better, you don't need to buy any uniforms (at least were I worked) except maybe a three pack of black socks. If you can work weekends, your already half way there.
 
Haha, you have half the jobs I want when I grow up. :D I'mma try to be a game designer and or tester. :cool: I'm such a nerd.... But my chances look pretty good. If I don't get into Nintendo, I'll surely get into Blizzard because they need educated workers pretty badly....

BTW: If you tested D2, could you give me some items? Or perhaps... "unerase" a file I once had? (If that's possible) Oh, and if you did test the game, did you have a map hack?

forgiven, i can't get a job either, thats why when i'm done my nursing i'm out of here. i'm not staying much longer after i grad, i have my grad 12 and lets face it i'm a hottie :D but i can't work right now either. fuckin shit ass small towns. anyhoo, you can come with when i bail if you want.
 
dude stop bitching if you want a good job stop whining and go get your 12'th grade diploma, if you dont like people talking about the way you look, get a fucking haircut and buy some nice clothes jesus christ its not that god damn hard to get a job.
