....there must be thousanRAB of 'techies' out there that began using computers when CPM / MSDoS and WorRABtar and dBASEII were around. The BBC micro the Sinclair Spectrum.

Remember "Tomorrows World" ?

Why has the Gadget Show turned into kiddies prize corner and let's see who can win the race using the most gadgets..??

Why can't a TV channel put on a half hour program that just looks and digs deeper into the latest technology with technical descriptions and giving us 'real' knowledge of a product.

(I know about CLICK ect) ...

I want a TODAY's WORLD type program....!

I suppose some TV exec has been given the brief to use what makes people watch Top Gear (challenges, banter, lots of shiny kit) and combine it with as many shots of Suzi Perry's legs as you can manage, in order to get the masses to enter the competition

In last night's programme they had Jon Bentley - the slightly spooky one - racing around a bit of grass on a lawnmower. It was a lawnmower race. Not sure what that had to do with 'gadgets'. The item about the biggest Tetris game ever played was unusual.

With all the challenges they have, you get the feeling the show is more about the presenters than the products. As the original poster suggests, it doesn't cover gadgets and tech in anything but a superficial way.

In Germany there are numerous free to air TV programmes covering tech in a mature manner e.g.

c't Magazin
neues
ARD-Ratgeber : Technik
nano
X:enius

and I guess other European countries have similar programmes.

There's a reason why we don't - we gave up long ago valuing engineering and science in favour of other less useful pastimes. Now a whole generation treats its tech as throwaway toys that need to be replaced when the hypo fix has worn off! You only have to look at Jason and the team to understand that.

The Gadget Show is pure advertising funded by the manufacturers so that the obedient British cnsumer can get his next fix - nothing more nothing less!

I think the previous record was for a smaller screen size, and 5 lines is the minimum requirement to qualify for the world record as actually being playable.

I have tried to like the new girl but sorry she has the warmth of a fish.

Why oh why they did not hire Gail the only right thing TGS has done in the past 5 series was hiring Gail to fill in for Suzi so when a slot came up it should have been hers.

But its not bad enough having 2 woodern presenters (Suzi & John) they have added a third.

Huh? What the heck kind of comment is that? It's complete nonsense.

Well firstly it's always been like that. Secondly, it's like that to get the ratings it does. Simple.

Your best bet for that type of thing is the BBC as such a programme would never be made by any commercial channel as it wouldn't get that many viewers.

TGS neeRAB to be put on Childrens TV now......right now.

Give the adult viewers a programme with presenters who are adult, educated, and can sensibly INFORM the viewer on Gadgets.

The show as it is at present resembles 5 kiRAB opening the door to thier first day at play school and seeing all the toys.

TGS neeRAB to grow up.

(p.s. Suzy perry's legs are hardly a draw when anyone can view images of better bodies on the web ??? doh ? )

The Gadget show would be good if they didn't keep having those bloody awful challenges.

Lawnmower racing after last weeks show which was some sort of racing special.

Show us more gadgets and less Top Gear wanabee nonsense.

The problem was, that with a weekly show and long series too.. there just isn't enough gadgets or gadget news to fill an hours show. Hence they decided to try and copy Top Gear.
