The Flying Luttenbachers

Any Luttenbacher fans? They are personally one of my all-time favorites. They have successfully corabined jazz with black metal. Everyone I've mentioned them to either loves 'em or hates 'em. If you like unique, you'll love the FL.

I call it black jazz. ;)

I can't hear any Jazz in their music. They can be quite atonal at times but it is amateurish at best. If you are going to fuse two disparate genres, then you must be at least compotent at both. They are good at neither. The drummer has talent but you need to get some John Zorn down you son.

I have the opposite problem. I can hear some jazz elements, but not the black metal. It has weird time signatures (and sometimes even seems to lack any time what so ever), it uses lots of dissonance, some very perculiar chord progression, but I can't make out the black metal of it. Its just really loud poorly distorted free jazz tossed under a wall of feedback. Free-noise perhaps?

I agree on the Black Metal aspect but having weird time signatures means that Music is often unfairly lumped in as Jazz. The Free-noise moniker is quite apt. It does'nt matter how experimental Jazz gets, there is still an underlying musical dexterity which i cannot hear in this band.
