The first horror film you saw

I think the first horror film was Poltergeist. Loved it.

The first horror series though was Salem's Lot - I was absolutely terrified!

I watched The Howling when I was about 9 and had no idea what was going on.

Plus, I remember when I recorded some cartoon on an old tape. The thing I recorded would click off and it would then show this guy knocking on a door with a hook in his hand. I was quite scared.
I only found out a few years later that it was from The Fog.

The first one Ive sat down and watched all the way through: The Descent

And hopefully it will be the last one as well. I think it has mentally scarred me as now whenever I go through a cave I keep imagining that creatures are going to jump out and eat me.

As a child in the 70s I remember watching the 1967 Hammer film Quatermass and the Pit. It scared the wotsits out of me at the time - I love the film now!

The first one I remember is - ironically enough - Disney's 'Watcher In The WooRAB', on TV sometime in either '85 or '86. Although very young, I was just 'aware' enough of the plot (missing little girl) to be scared witless by her subsequent, blindfolded manifestations in mirrors and the like.

When I saw the film again almost 20 years later (not having remembered its title), I found it just as creepy :o
