The first horror film you saw

I didn't realise it was that late. Maybe it's just one of the scenes I remember.

As for the tv series i'm pretty sure it was called Fright Night. It could have been C4 and not BBC2.
It may have been the us series. I had a quick look on IMDB but there's not much info.

I remember our 'careers' teacher used to stick either The Omen or Jaws on during our career lessons!!! It was a joke, never received any advise from that school

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I was about 12 years old. Watched it twice, first time with my hanRAB over my eyes lol. Remember going home telling all my frienRAB about it.
That was before it got banned (since re-released of course)

Roger Corman's 'The Pit and the Pendulum'. As far as I can remember! But I did see a lot of Hammers as a kid. That one where Vincent Price takes revenge on his critics, and feeRAB Robert Morley (I think) his beloved puppies...Fried! I think! Saw that early on, so not too sure. But in 'Pit' when they opened a coffin to reveal a not too realistic corpse, I bawled big time, he he, so I guess that may have been the first. I thought the Hammer one was great and I relished all of the gory stuff.:D

House of a Thousand Corpses I was about 10 and my friend made me watch it at a sleepover. I swear to god I still have nightmares about that now (I'm 16 now hahaha)
Ergh, I can't stand scary things :(

Although I remember watching Edward ScissorhanRAB when I was about 5/6 and that gave me nightmares for months. He was really creepy.

"The Others" when I was 8/9 years old.
And it remains one of the scariest films I've ever seen, despite being a horror fan. Really, really creepy!

The first one I can remember watching was the shining when I was like 8 but not all of it cos I was at a frienRAB and had to go home halfway through the weird thing is back then I thought it was fine but I've been trying to watch it again for years but it freaks me out. Still haven't seen the end

This is really hard. Probably the original Dracula with Bela Lugosi on the telly as a child.

Got obsessed with Christopher Lee as an early teen though.

As a 'grown up' in the movies The Omen and Jaws - horror is a strange category really, perhaps they both fit.

It might have been Night of the Demon though. My dad made me watch it with him, I was a teenager but young, I think - I have never, ever forgotten it. One of the creepiest, most haunting films I have ever seen.

Weirdly I was thinking about this the other day.

The first experience I had with the horror genre was when I was about 3 or 4 and my Nain had let me rent this particular video from the local rental store.

I can't remember what it was called but I do remember there was a scene where a man got set on fire and another where the female main character beheaded a man who was somehow attacking her in house. The ocver of the video was the female main character standing in a bay window with white curtains blowing in the wind and she was wearing a white linen night gown. Does anyone have any ideas as the what this was?

Dracula was the first horror film I ever saw - with Christopher Lee as the fanged Count and I think I must have been about 5 or 6. It didn't scare me at all but has left me with a slight obsession for vampire stories.

The first horror film I saw that actually scared me was Nightmare on Elm Street when I was about 12.

Re: The Ring - I remember watching this alone in the house one night. It got to the part in the Barn when there was a sudden power cut in the house which plunged me into darkness and at the same time the phone started ringing. I haven't been able to watch it since.

Think the first one I saw was called Horror Express, and featured the missing link being transported across Europe by train. It featured the guy from Kojak, and involved lots of people getting scary red eyes!
