The first horror film you saw

It's never been banned or even cut in any way in the UK. It's been on TV a few times, first on BBC2 in the late 90s - perhaps this is when you first saw it? There was a DVD released on the Tartan label years ago, who released several other similarly-themed Brian Yuzna/Stuart Gordon/icky-special-effects films of this type.

maybe but i remember that this film spooks me and always been on my mind as was wondering if it was real lol but now i know the name... i can't buy the dvd cos it's got no subtitles so i'm gonna try and find out if i can get to see it via other means

I remember watching parts of Halloween when I was about 5. But only little bits. It clearly had a lasting impression on me. And then I remember watching this film about a boy who'd got locked in his school clockroom and was haunted by a little girl. I think it was called Lady in Grey. It probably wasn't even a horror but I was about 8 so a little freaked.

When I was about 10 years old, my dad worked nights and my mum would let me, my brother and sister stay up late to watch 'scary' films, so that she wouldn't have to watch them alone! We'd always rush off to bed when the film finished, leaving mum on her own to turn everything off!

They were usually Hammer films, such as 'Masque of the Red Death' and various Dracula films starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. The scariest I can remember at the time was 'Pit and the Pendulum' which featured a scene where a woman became encased in an 'Iron Maiden' torture device and the last shot of her is a close up of her eyes which convey pure terror and pain!

First film that terrified me as a kid was SSSSSSS, it totally traumatised me for years.
I managed to get hold of a copy on DVD not long ago - but OMG, it was so trashy. It was great to see it again though, don't feel so scared of it now. :D

That's Halloween 3 and Nightmare on Elm Street 6.Arguably the worst of each movie series.

The BBC 2 one is a tricky one.It could be any of the 1970's British or American horror movies, and there was a lot of them.
Tales from the Crypt and From Beyond the Grave start a bit like that and have been repeated loaRAB since the 70's.If not,I'll have to think about it.
