the Firm

I think you should maybe explain what film you're talking about, because there is a very well known film called The Firm which starred Tom Cruise ;)

Might be a bit obvious with a new film out yesterday called The Firm, he would be relating to that.

I am actually excited to watch this on Wednesday, I do hope it's decent.. I like the Green Street/Football Hooligan type of films.

Have you seen any of them before watching this OP?

It's not obvious at all. I certainly had no idea another film called the firm was released. Plus I'm also pretty certain that the Tom Cruise one will always be the one people will automatically assume is the one being discussed. Some of us have left school you know.

Not pedantic at all.

Personally, I remember the original TV play very well, and thought it was excellent.

But I would not expect the average person to remember it, and it's fair to assume if you were to mention a film called The Firm to most people, they would indeed think of the Tom Cruise movie, which is more widely known.

Personally, the fact that talentless hack Nick Love directed this remake is enough to make me steer clear of this one.

I really enjoyed it actually, and I hated Football Factor and Green Street. I was expecting more from the ending but overall, I liked it. :)

You obviously watched it through close eyes then.

Did you not see how it portrayed a young vulnerable boy looking for excitement in his mundane life to befriend the leader of a group of football hooligans only to find once he realized he had got in to deep he couldn't get out.

I won't ruin the film for those who have yet to see it by going into details. But for somebody to say it had no sign of a story, then I suggest you open your eyes and let your mind run free.

Compared to Love's other fikms, I've read some decent reviews of this one. Some even calling it his best work to date (and these aren't reviews from Heat or Nuts, before anyone says anything)

I think I'll probably ive it a go.

Yep - I thought it was okay.

I was slightly distracted by the 80s retro stuff, and seeing the Elephant & Castle shopping centre.

But, overall I thought it captured the issues pretty well, and I agree that there was definitely a plot. The only criticisism I have is that the relationship between the father and "Bex" was a little under-developed.
