Which would you guys recommend? I am new to smart phones, never owned one, but which ever phone I get I will purchase an internet plan. I can get the Cingular 8525 for about 250 shipped, through Cingular. The n73 would cost me around 500. What do you guys think? I know the N73 camera is way better, but what else?

#1 if you pay $500 bucks for an N73 then you are an idiot.

#2 there are quite a few threads on this already out there

such as http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1121306

If you decide on the N73, there's a recent thread on best place to buy an N73. cheapest place I've seen for a silver/plum was $428 shipped via Phonesource-USA (through pricegrabber.com). The ME I just bought through Import-GSM ran a little under $500 shipped.

There're a few used N73's on ebay right now as well.

when i was saying i was gonna pay 500, i meant ME as well..., but yea, i went ahead with the 8525, im gonna test it out for 30 days, and if i dont like ill return it....thanks for all the help

I noticed you have this thread on the HTC forum as well.

Please stop re-posting and basically asking the same question.

It somehow seems like you yourself are leaning towards the Nokia or a smaller phone. The fact of the matter that as far as power user abilities the N73 is not the best choice, the TyTN, in many ways and is far more usable as an office away form the office.

But since you sound more interested in the camera than go for that. Although that a pretty penny to buy a camera, especially when cameras prices are dropping.

Do you have any other reason why you like the N73? Or more importantly what would you like to use it for?

I do not know what you want to hear, since people tend to be biased with their phones so you will hear good stories on both. Finally what matters is, what are you planning to do with it?

Since you have gone from a lesser K-series to a Nokia N series to the TyTN,
that is like comparing a supped up Honda, to a mid-tier BMW to a top of the line Lexus.

i purchased the 8525 already, cingular offered it to me for 250...im going to test it out, hopefully i like it..thanks for all of the responses

];8856546']yup for half price.. and being a superior device in everything but the camera... i-d say its a no brainer

the only thing that keeps me away from the 8525 is the size

I tested 8525 a long time ago, and one of the tests was the bandwidth test, and it did rather poorly in HSDPA range, compare to like a blackjack... hopefully they have fixed it in latest firmware. Also for VOIP calls it seems that the 8525 uplink is way slower than a blackjack...

^^^ "HSDPA Range?" what does mean? That does not make any sense.

HSDPA is based on the phone's radio. Are you saying that the Blackjack has a better radio than the 8525? Which could be since I have never played with a blackjack but HSDPA "speed" if that is what you want to call it is dictated by a providers tower.

HSDPA 1.8 vs HSDPA 3.6

Both should work on HSDPA 1.8, while I got close to 1 Mbps on tests on Blackjack, I got about 400-500kbps on 8525.

Also the uplink on 8525 seemed a lot slower than the Blackjack.

Cingular's HSDPA max speed right now is 1.8Mbps, but I have not seen anyone get that speed quite yet in tests.

HSUPA is on the works, and coming out soon.

what makes it superior in everything just curious, because i had the 8525 and it lasted 4 hrs with me before i went back to the n73, screen is larger but not as nice, music player doesnt sound as full, speaker isnt half as good, web browsing although faster(which is the main reason i bought) cant touch the n73, phone locked up on me in the 2nd hr had to reboot and take battery out, plus just look in ther pocket pc forum at all the issues, aside from 3g and pull out keyboard i think the n73 is nicer and maybe even more powerful. I mean what can the 8525 do that the n73 cant.http://www.mobiletechreview.com/phones/Nokia-N73.htm here is a link that shows how pwoerful it is.

8525 is a nice business phone, N73 is a nice symbian phone, they're different breeds really, like comparing apple and oranges, I personally favor N73, but to the business people and people who like something faster than 3G, 8525 could be a must. Also 8525 is the only phone where you can play Cingular TV in Full Screen mode that would actually cover the whole screen, as opposed to other 3G phones (Blackjack included), that was pretty nice. Though you need a registry fix to make it work now

];8858791']lol! 8525 is almost a laptop... if you know how to use it
that is.. keep away from the cingular rom and use htc, qtek or imate ones and load it with infinite programs
if not.. stay with plain regular phones and be happy with it, just like me... cause i already keep my laptop all the time with me
